ABOUT THIS SITE

The John Wiley & Sons Environet Web Site serves as a companion to the textbook Environmental Science: Earth As a Living Planet, Third Edition, by Daniel Botkin, George Mason University, and Edward Keller, University of California-Santa Barbara. The text is a revision of the unique first edition - the most successful first edition environmental science text of the 1990s! The third edition has been revised; however, the unique approach of the authors remains the same.  Environmental Science provides a contemporary, interdisciplinary introduction to the important concepts of environmental science, integrating natural sciences (physical and biological) with environmental ethics, environmental economics, environmental law, and environmental impact. The authors place the study of the environment on a sound scientific basis. Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet, 3e teaches students how to think, not what to think.

For each chapter of the text, this site expands on either the "Case Study", the "Environmental Issue" or "A Closer Look", providing a combination of current news items, reports, historical context, and a multimedia component. Each chapter section also holds frequently asked questions from the (Review Guide) and links to other sites for help in answering those questions. The correct answers are provided in the Student Review Guide.
