María Concepción Lucas-Murillo Keynote Speaker: Mireya Mayor, Primatologist/ Conservationist and National Geographic Emerging Explorer

Mireya Mayor is a Fulbright scholar and National Science Foundation Fellow, dividing her time between research in Madagascar, appearing as a correspondent on the National Geographic Ultimate Explorer television series, and completing a Ph.D. in anthropology. Come hear this "female Indiana Jones"!

Keynote Speaker: Matthew Leavitt, Arizona State University

A specialist in using visuals to enhance student learning, Matthew Leavitt will lead this session and focus on the importance of using rich visuals to direct students’ attention to important information, help students mentally organize what they are learning, and to integrate it with what they already know. Visuals can be powerful instructional tools, clearly communicating complex processes, multiple related pieces of information, and integrating information into clear representations. You will come away with a better understanding of how visuals help us learn, how to use visuals in your classroom, and better prepared to select visuals to use in your instruction.
