The Thermodynamics DESIGN INTERACTIVE feature expands on select Design and Open Ended problems that appear at the end of each chapter in engineering textbooks published by John Wiley & Sons.  This section provides students with resources for problem solving and online exploration of engineering thermodynamics information as it is applied in the field for a variety of applications.  In keeping with the format of Wiley Thermodynamics textbooks, DESIGN INTERACTIVE should further encourage higher-order and critical thinking so as to enhance analytical skills and foster the development of engineering judgement.  For each class of thermodynamics applications, DESIGN INTERACTIVE features a design problem, each of which includes the following features:

“In the Field" -  presents information on how similar problems have been actually solved in the field by engineers, including problem and design overviews, reports, photographs, tours and slide shows, and other multimedia;

"Solution Support"  -  provides a variety of information to assist with analysis of problems, design considerations, and solution alternatives, including technical reports and data, research projects and reports, industry news articles, and other support resources;

"Demonstration"  -  graphics, schematics, diagrams, animations, photographs, and videos of the components and systems featured in the text and included in the problems, and;

“Web Resources"  -  comprehensive links in the following categories: industry resource Web sites (e.g. naturalgas.com; gas-turbine.com); companies/businesses; industry groups/associations; federal agencies and research facilities; schools/educational.
