Motion Control Systems
February 2011
Welcome to the Web site for Motion Control Systems by Asif Šabanović and Kouhei Ohnishi.
The MATLAB Simulink files provide illustration for most of the examples presented in the book. MATLAB version 7.7.0.471(R2008b) is used for all files. The solutions are compiled from the works of undergraduate and graduate students at Sabancı University and EE Department at the University of Sarajevo. We made small adjustments to maintain some level of uniformity in the notation. The solutions follow closely the examples in the book but do not always give an exact replication of the experiments. We would like to express our appreciation to all students for allowing us to use their solutions as basis.
Through these solutions, we hope to provide an illustration on how students may solve the examples presented in the book and thus the solutions are not meant to provide the most effective or simplest way for solving these problems. The diagrams shown in the book are all obtained by simulation in Simnon®. Solutions in MATLAB/Simulink environment gave us an opportunity to compare the complexity of solutions and obtain confirmation of the results.
All simulations can be run directly from Simulink.
Solutions for Chapters 3-6 use scope to show diagrams. In Chapters 7-9, due to the complexity of models, m files are produced to run simulations and generate graphics. In these examples, each experiment is in a separate sub-folder and in each a m file is provided to set parameters, run simulation and draw diagrams. As example, SabanovicOhnishi_MoCo_Examples_Ch8_832.m shows results for Figure 2 of Example 3 in Chapter 8.
We would like to remind readers that the parameters of controllers and observers are not optimized. Thus the diagrams show the applicability of methods discussed in the book and do not represent the best solutions that can be achieved. We would appreciate if readers could provide us with more effective solutions.
