François Chartier is the author of the popular French-language annual wine guide La Sélection Chartier, now in its 16th edition, as well as the bestselling A Table avec Francois Chartier and the collection of books entitled Papilles pour tous. Recently, he, along with Chef Stéphane Modat, published Les Recettes de Papilles et Molécules, in which they share 80 recipes inspired by Taste Buds and Molecules.

Chartier is the only Canadian to have ever been named best sommelier in the world in French wines and spirits at the prestigious Grand Prix Sopexa. He pioneered a new course of study, which he calls "molecular sommellerie", and has used his groundbreaking research to collaborate with Ferran Adrià and Juli Soler on many dishes that appeared on the 2009 and 2010 menu at elBulli, voted the best restaurant in the world five times over.

A documentary film on his innovative work, The Pleasures of Scents, is currently being filmed with the prestigious teams of Lowik Media and the Documentary Channel, and will air worldwide in 2013. Moreover, in Quebec, he is the host of a new weekly culinary television show based on his work, called Papilles. Chartier has also received l'Ordre National du Quebec, the highest distinction granted by the Quebec government.
