Announcing the Launch of WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE™ The premier professional development destination for faculty and campus leaders

Hoboken, N.J.

John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa, JWb) is pleased to announce the launch of WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE™ (www.WileyLearningInstitute.com), a new service that provides essential knowledge, ideas, and best practices to promote professional learning.

WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE
was created to address the changing needs of today's academic leaders, administrators, faculty members, and other professionals in higher education community worldwide.  It leverages content, expertise, and resources from across Wiley's global businesses to enable them to excel in their work, fulfill the education mission of their institutions, and provide additional opportunities to enhance teaching and learning.

Participants benefit from the expertise of WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE presenters, many of whom are internationally-recognized speakers and Wiley/Jossey-Bass authors such as Stephen D. Brookfield, author of The Skillful Teacher, Teaching for Critical Thinking; Thomas A. Angelo, author of Classroom Assessment Techniques; and Linda B. Nilson, author of Teaching at Its Best, The Graphic Syllabus and the Outcomes Map.  WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE employs the latest technologies to provide participants with interactive workshops, applied learning labs, one-on-one coaching programs, and an online, collaborative community of researchers, thought leaders, and professionals across multiple disciplines.

WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE approaches professional development as an interactive, on-going experience, in contrast to the one-off, static webinars offered by most online faculty training and development providers.  All offerings are instructionally sound, highly interactive, and immediately applicable—giving faculty the knowledge, tools, and resources to take what they have learned and apply it to their classrooms the next day.

WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE is uniquely positioned to influence higher education teaching and learning and augment the services already offered by campus faculty development centers.

"WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE seeks to partner with campus faculty development centers both to support and leverage their local expertise.  In cases where colleges and universities have had to scale back their faculty development activities due to budget cuts, our program will fill the gap,  allowing the continuation of these services," said Kevin Kelly, Ed.D, director of WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE

"Looking ahead, WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE plans to extend its professional development capabilities to other communities served by Wiley, including professional and scholarly societies."  Dr. Kelly joined the WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE in June 2011 and brings over 12 years of campus-wide faculty development experience from San Francisco State University.

The pricing structure of WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE events is designed to accommodate single user, group, and campus-wide participation through individually-priced workshops, bulk discounts, and site licenses. Custom sponsored events can be developed to cater to specific faculty development needs.

The recently-announced Spring 2012 schedule of events includes a wide array of formats, including 90-minute Workshops, Jossey-Bass Department Chair Leadership Institute Seminars, Half-Day Workshops, and Applied Learning Labs. These events cover a variety of topics such as Assessment at the course and program levels, Mentoring Relationships, Engaging Learners, and Online Course Design and Facilitation.
