About the Editor

Hans-Joachim Gabius received his PhD degree in 1982 for investigating proofreading mechanisms by phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetases, then starting his contribution to glycosciences in 1983 at the Max-Planck-Institute for Experimental Medicine. He became chairman of the Institute for Physiological Chemistry in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. He has received numerous awards including the Otto-Hahn-Medal of the Max-Planck-Society and awards of the Dr. Carl-Duisberg Foundation and the Paul-Martini Foundation. He has published over 500 research articles in peer-reviewed journals with over 13,000 citations and an h-factor of 59.
