Online Launch of e-Patai: Patai’s Chemistry of Functional Groups
For students, academics and industry-based organic chemists the world over, the name Patai has long been synonymous with reliable expert opinion. Established in 1964 by Professor Saul Patai, there are now over one hundred volumes in Patai’s Chemistry of Functional Groups series making it the most comprehensive reference available in functional group chemistry. Now, bringing this landmark series right up to date, Wiley is delighted to announce the launch of e-Patai, a fully searchable and updating electronic major reference work that will provide labs and libraries around the globe with instant access to a wealth of invaluable content straight to their desktop.
“Unique in its breadth of coverage, the series is highly regarded for the additional critical information that it delivers in the form of state-of-the-art developments, reviews and analysis, as well as being renowned as having a who’s who of contributors from the field of organic chemistry such as eminent chemists, Ben Feringa, Manfred Schlosser, Edgar Heilbronner, Hideki Sakurai, L R Subramanian, Alexander Pozharskii, Scott Denmark, Leo Paquette, Steven Ley and Alan Katritzky, and the Nobel Laureates George Olah, Jean-Marie Lehn and E J Corey,” commented David Hughes, publisher for the Chemistry of Functional Groups series and the ePatai project.
At launch, the content of the twenty-one volumes published since 1996 (comprising more than 27,000 pages of content), will be available to search in e-Patai alphanumerically, by topic and through cross-references. New volumes will be added twice-yearly to ensure that the user has the most recent information at their fingertips. In addition, the eighty-six volumes that were published prior to 1996 will be accessible as an online book series – that’s 70,000 pages available as PDFs with downloadable references. This, together with the major reference work, makes it among the biggest electronic reference resource ever launched by Wiley.
Making this extraordinary wealth of content available online provides Patai's readers with fast and easy access to what is undoubtedly the most complete and comprehensive resource of its kind available today. It is surely a resource that no organic chemist will want to be without…
