Wiley-Blackwell Conducts Trial of SciVee Video Platform
San Diego, CA—SciVee, the leading video platform solutions provider to the scientific, technical and medical market, announced today that Wiley-Blackwell has agreed to conduct a trial of the SciVee video platform for several of its life sciences journals. The three-month trial is designed to test how SciVee products and services can supplement and enhance Wiley-Blackwell journals to increase article views, broaden reader interest and promote authors. Wiley-Blackwell publishes nearly 1,500 peer-reviewed journals and 1,500+ new books annually, as well as databases, major reference works and laboratory protocols.
“Video and other rich media need to be an integral part of a journal’s online presence,” said David Nicholson, Journals Publishing Director, Life Sciences, at Wiley-Blackwell. “We are looking forward to working with SciVee to enliven our content. The visually enhanced media fits with our overall digital strategy which aims to enrich the reader’s online experience.”
This test primarily focuses on SciVee PubCast, which is a synchronized video abstract that enables a reader to see the author discuss highlighted sections of a journal article in a full multimedia presentation online. It provides a much more dynamic way to absorb and retain knowledge than a text-only abstract. A PubCast promotes greater interest in the author’s work and increases its impact through broad distribution on the Internet.
“We are obviously pleased that an innovative publisher such as Wiley-Blackwell has given us an opportunity to help them add rich media to their content, and we will do our utmost to meet their expectations and expand the collaboration, as we have done with other journals, publishers and societies,” said Ken Liu, SciVee’s Vice President of Business Development.
