RSMeans and Wiley Partnership Agreement

Hoboken, NJ, July 19, 2010 — Wiley, an industry-leading publisher, and RSMeans, North America’s leading supplier of construction cost information, announced today a partnership to deliver a new generation of reference materials to the commercial and residential construction markets.

The partnership names Wiley as the exclusive global publisher and distributor of RSMeans professional reference titles. Wiley will manage RSMeans’ current suite of reference books, including popular titles such as the RSMeans Illustrated Construction Dictionary, RSMeans Estimating Handbook, Green Building: Project Planning & Cost Estimating, and dozens of other titles that cover topics from estimating and project management to green building, facility management, home improvement, and more. RSMeans will continue to publish, produce, and distribute its annual construction cost data publications – references that provide reliable cost information for construction estimating.

“Wiley’s dedication to serving its markets and commitment to excellence make the company the perfect fit for RSMeans,” said Daimon Bridge, Director, RSMeans. “Their team has the capability and expertise not only to manage and grow the current collection of reference titles, but to continuously add new titles and gain exposure for the RSMeans brand.”

In addition to the current reference collection, Wiley and RSMeans plan to launch a co-branded series of new reference titles over the next several years, primarily targeting the commercial and residential construction markets, in print and electronic formats.

“Wiley has a strong line of offerings for the professional and trade markets, and we’re excited to be working closely with their team,” said Rich Remington, CTO, Reed Business Information US.  “This partnership will allow us to develop and deliver exciting new construction-related content by leveraging the combined expertise of both companies.”

“RSMeans is a trusted name and has delivered relevant and high-quality reference materials to the market for years,” said Amanda L. Miller, Vice President and Publisher, Wiley.  “We’re excited that RSMeans reference collection is now part of the Wiley family and we look forward to delivering more great content in the coming years.”

The alliance will leverage RSMeans’ existing suite of reference book publications, target market, brand identity, and customer relationships to continue to deliver updated, timely reference expertise. Wiley’s Professional/Trade business’ publishing strategy allows for extensive market penetration for worldwide distribution through multiple channels, including bookstores, online sales, and direct marketing. Wiley’s architecture, design, engineering, and construction publishing group has affiliations with more than 20 professional organizations, including The American Institute of Architects (AIA), International Code Council (ICC), and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), among others. Architectural Graphic Standards, authored by the AIA, has been a flagship publication of Wiley’s architecture publishing program for nearly 80 years.
