David Perkins, Ph.D., is a senior professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a co-director with Howard Gardner of Project Zero. He has conducted long-term programs of research and development in the areas of teaching and learning for understanding, creativity, problem-solving and reasoning in the arts, sciences, and everyday life. With his colleague Martha Stone Wiske he is also the co-founder and co-director of WIDE World, an online teacher development initiative that operates globally. Perkins is a noted international speaker, and author of several books, including The Eureka Effect (Norton, 2001), Smart Schools (Free Press 1992), and King Arthur's Round Table (Wley, 2003).
