Wiley and Merck Enter Into Distribution Agreement
Hoboken, NJ, February 18, 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and Merck & Co., Inc. announced today that they have signed an agreement giving Wiley exclusive United States distribution rights to the Merck Publishing Group's four professional handbooks, effective immediately.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wiley will be responsible for the sales and distribution of The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, The Merck Manual of Geriatrics, The Merck Index, and The Merck Veterinary Manual. These books are widely considered to be the most trusted medical and scientific references in the world. Merck will be responsible for editorial control, production, public relations activities, electronic rights and subsidiary rights and will co-market the books with Wiley.
