Wiley Acquires Professional Higher Education Titles from Anker Publishing
Hoboken, N.J., March 20, 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa) (NYSE: JWb), announced today that it has acquired the publishing assets of Anker Publishing Company, Inc., an independent publisher of books and periodicals for professionals in higher education, located in Bolton, Massachusetts. Anker Publishing's annual revenue is approximately $ 1 million.
Anker Publishing produces professional development content for faculty and administrators in higher education. Its offerings include materials on creating teaching portfolios, improving teaching practices, and planning for promotion and tenure, as well as resources for department chairs, deans, and other administrators on management, leadership, and change in higher education.
The acquisition brings to Wiley 50 new book titles and a backlist of 100 titles, as well the quarterly newsletter, Department Chair, a resource for academic administrators. This list complements the well established higher and adult education program that is published under Wiley's Jossey-Bass imprint.
"We are delighted to add Anker Publishing’s distinguished list of titles to our portfolio," said Paul Foster, Vice President and Publisher, Jossey-Bass, a Wiley imprint. "This acquisition is a natural fit into our existing collection and it will greatly expand Wiley's presence in the professional higher education market."
"I have every confidence that under Wiley's direction the publishing program we have developed and nurtured will continue to grow and flourish," said James D. Anker, President and Publisher, Anker Publishing.
