Wiley-Blackwell Announces Launch of Industrial and Organizational Psychology
Boston, MA, July 9, 2007 Global publisher Wiley-Blackwell, which is part of John Wiley & Sons, Inc., today announced that it has been selected by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), to launch its new journal, Industrial and Organizational Psychology. The first issue will be published in March 2008.
“The format of this new journal will encourage ongoing dialog and foster creative thinking about current issues in our field,” said Dr. Paul Sackett of the University of Minnesota and editor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. “I am confident that our partnership with Wiley-Blackwell will help us produce a journal that will be essential reading for all those interested in the science, practice, and teaching of industrial and organizational psychology.”
Industrial and Organizational Psychology is unusual in its aim to cultivate an interactive exchange of ideas on science, practice, and public policy as it relates to the field of industrial and organizational psychology (I-O). The dynamic format of each journal will include two focal papers, or position papers on important I-O issues, and a series of peer commentaries from various perspectives as well as a final rejoinder from the authors.
The focal articles will be posted on the SIOP Web site (www.siop.org) several months in advance of the publication of each journal issue. For the first issue, which will publish in March 2008, the focal articles will appear on the SIOP Web site in July 2007.
“This is an effective way to package the primary articles and reader reaction in one issue rather than wait for subsequent issues to generate reader responses,” Sackett said.
Wiley-Blackwell is already established as the leading publisher of psychology journals. The partnership supports the company’s portfolio of leading organizational psychology titles that includes Personnel Psychology, Applied Psychology, British Journal of Management, and International Journal of Selection and Assessment. This recent partnership with SIOP supports the general interest in organizational psychology and Wiley-Blackwell’s commitment to further strengthening its portfolio in this area.
“This journal both complements and expands our portfolio in psychology,” said Philip Carpenter, Managing Director, Social Sciences and Humanities, Wiley-Blackwell. “We look forward to working with SIOP to position Industrial and Organizational Psychology as a leading forum and resource for all professionals in the field.”
