Wiley-Blackwell to Publish Academic Emergency Medicine
Hoboken, July 31, 2007 Wiley-Blackwell, the scientific, technical, medical, and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), today announced that it has been selected by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine to publish their flagship publication, Academic Emergency Medicine (AEM). The first issue will be published in January 2008.
Academic Emergency Medicine features original articles on the advancement of knowledge concerning emergency medicine research, investigation, education, and clinical practice. Each monthly issue contains a broad range of topics relevant to the improvement of emergency, urgent, or critical care of the acutely ill or injured patient. The journal also includes review articles, conference proceedings, letters to the Editor, and short communications.
“Emergency medicine is a rapidly growing field that will likely change over the next 20 years more than any other specialty,” says Michelle H. Biros, MD, MS, Editor-in-Chief of AEM. “We are thrilled to be working with Wiley-Blackwell on expanding the international reach of the journal and helping to improve emergency medical care throughout the world.”
Dr. Biros has served as Editor-in-Chief since 1998. Dr. Biros has served the field for 21 years and is widely considered to be one of the most prominent leaders in academic emergency medicine the country. She will be supported by an editorial board comprising over 400 peer reviewers with specific areas of interest and expertise in emergency medicine.
