Wiley-Blackwell and SCI Launch Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining
A multidisciplinary review journal for the biorenewables community
Chichester, United Kingdom, August 9, 2007 Wiley-Blackwell, the scientific, technical, medical and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) announced today that they published the premier issue of Biofuels, Bioproducts, and Biorefining (Biofpr) dedicated to the emerging field of sustainable products, fuels, and energy. The first online issue will be freely available to the biorenewables community.
“As we transform from an oil-oriented non-renewable economy to a bio-based renewable economy, this change is profoundly affecting all sectors of the global economy,” said Bruce E. Dale, Editor-in-Chief, Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining (Biofpr). “This journal helps to navigate this change by enabling a wide variety of institutions to understand and better manage their own bioeconomy transition.”
Bruce E. Dale is Professor at the department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Michigan State University, USA and won the Charles D. Scott award in 1996.
The journal publishes a balanced mixture of peer-reviewed critical reviews, commentary, patent intelligence and business news highlights. The goal is to provide an overview of the key advances in all areas related to the biorenewables sector, from the science and technology of feedstock design and processing to business and commercial analysis.
Biofpr adopts Wiley's new business model for new journal launches, in which complimentary online access will be available to institutions throughout 2007 and 2008.
In addition, the free access web portal www.biofpr.com supplements the journal by guiding users through the latest advances in the academic, industrial, and government sectors. The portal includes the latest product news and features, patent intelligence, and community pages.
“For over 12 years, SCI has been one of our key society partners,” said Dr. Ernest Kirkwood Vice President, Publishing Director, Physical Sciences. “We are pleased to enhance our existing partnership with SCI by creating an innovative publication and supporting website through which we can both further serve the biorenewables community.”
Andrew Ladds, Chief Executive of the SCI said, “We are really excited at being part of this ground-breaking new resource which we believe will provide a vital source of information for those working with or researching sustainable products, fuels and energy, as well as those with an interest in all things ‘green.’”
