Child Development Perspectives Publishes First Issue

Ann Arbor, MI, October 29, 2007 —  Wiley-Blackwell, the scientific, technical, medical and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), announced the publication of the first issue of Child Development Perspectives, a new journal published in partnership with the Society for Research in Child Development.

Child Development Perspectives provides developmental scientists, researchers in other disciplines, policymakers, instructors, and professionals who work with children in clinical settings access to short summaries of the latest scientific reports on developmental issues related to children.

The inaugural issue of the journal highlights a number of timely topics such as how minimally aggressive behavior in children can grow into serious problems later in life and how modern neuroscience can address the behavioral problems that present among children deprived of a normal childhood, either because of poverty, war, or abandonment.

"Child Development Perspectives is an important contribution to the field of child development," said Philip Carpenter, Managing Director, Social Sciences and Humanities, Wiley-Blackwell. "This journal keeps readers abreast of the latest issues and trends in development sciences and opens the door for encouraging dialog across disciplines."

Wiley-Blackwell also publishes two other journals on behalf of the Society for Research in Child Development: Child Development, the flagship journal of the society and Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, the top-ranked journal in the field of developmental psychology.

"The SRCD is pleased to extend our relationship with Wiley-Blackwell," said Susan Lennon, Deputy Executive Director, Society for Research in Child Development. "Their partnership helps us advance our mission to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge, and move science into the domain of policy through the publication of Child Development Perspectives."

Child Development Perspectives, along with Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, is included with a subscription to Child Development. A subscription is also included with membership in the SRCD.
