Wiley Partners with LibreDigital to Deliver eBook, Custom Content, and Discovery Tools
Hoboken, N.J., May 29, 2008 Global publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb), and LibreDigital, a division of NewsStand, Inc., announced today that Wiley has selected LibreDigital’s Internet Digital Warehouse solution to provide eBook, custom content, and discovery tools to Wiley customers, partners, and users.
This partnership is an important step in enabling Wiley’s vision of “All Wiley All the Time,” in which customers will be able to seamlessly access, assemble, output, and purchase any Wiley content wherever, whenever, and however they need and want it. LibreDigital’s toolset fast-tracks Wiley’s Content Technology Initiative, which has included plans for the creation of a single content store for all of Wiley’s content spanning its businesses, geographic boundaries, and product types—towards the goal of making content available and useable to its customers, users, and partners from that significant content store.
With the union of LibreDigital’s digital asset delivery technology with Wiley’s deep reservoir of digital content, Wiley will be able to deliver select published content from across Wiley’s three core businesses, no matter how or where it was originally published, and allow customers to choose the desired final product format, be it print, online, or as a download to a computer or mobile device.
Among the first applications supported by the partnership will be more efficient distribution of eBooks to resellers and an improved system for creating customized college textbooks.
“Our partnership with LibreDigital represents a significant milestone in Wiley’s Content Technology Initiative and helps us to fulfill our vision of enabling our customers to search across all of our content, and assemble their own product, which then can be delivered as they need—regardless of its source,” said Gregory St. John, Vice President, Web Publishing Technologies, Wiley. “The new capabilities that the LibreDigital hosted solution provides will also allow us to develop more efficient processes, and create new products that draw on content from across our three core businesses.”
“LibreDigital is pleased to partner with Wiley, a global publisher that has served the higher education; scientific, technical, medical, and scholarly; and many professional/trade communities with distinction for over two centuries,” said Craig Miller, Vice President and General Manager of LibreDigital. “The opportunity to help this venerable company deliver their powerhouse of content quickly and with flexibility directly into the hands of their users and customers is very exciting.”
