Prior to the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE Corporation, which created Verizon Communications, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CTI MOVIL, S.A. (Argentina), a business unit of GTE Corporation, from 1996 to 2000. He has also held senior positions at CANTV in Venezuela, and Wagner Lockheed and Alcatel in Brazil. From 1981 to 1992, he served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of GTE Lighting in France. He is a director of Pitney Bowes, Inc.; KeyCorp; and Hillenbrand Industries, Inc. Age 62.
