What is an Affiliate Program?

An Affiliate Program allows you to place links to our products on your web site. By placing these links, visitors to your site have the opportunity to buy products. If a product is purchased by one of your visitors through our web sites, we pay you a commission for each sale.

Why should I join?

There are many reasons to join. Becoming an Affiliate is free, and you will have the opportunity to increase your revenue potential with very little effort. As an Affiliate, you can add value to the content of your site. Wiley will process all customer orders and handle all payments.

How do I sign up?

First, you must read and accept our Publisher Application, hosted by our third-party vendor Commission Junction. After your application is submitted, we will contact you to let you know if you've been accepted as an Affiliate, and we will provide you with information on how to get started.

How does the program work?

An Affiliate Program allows you to make money by referring customers to our web sites. You do this by placing links on your site. Every time you refer a customer to one of our sites, and that customer makes a purchase, you earn a commission. Every month during which you have earned more than $50, we send you a check for a percentage of the sales you referred to our site.

Does it cost anything to become an Affiliate?

No. It's absolutely free to join our Affiliate Program. There is no charge to apply and there is no minimum sales requirement.

What are my responsibilities an as Affiliate?

The only thing you are responsible for is using the Get Links feature in your Commission Junction Account Manager to retrieve your desired Wiley links and post them on your site. We handle everything else.

What are Wiley's responsibilities?

We will provide you with the tools and support you need to maximize sales through your site. We also handle orders, shipping, and billing for all customers you refer to us.

Can I use the Wiley name and logo on my web site?

Yes! Users want to know they are buying from a company they can trust. But please do not alter our logo in any way.

Can I use your content on my site?

Yes. As an Affiliate, you may take advantage of the wealth of content on our site, including book covers and summaries. Use this valuable content on your site to enhance your bookselling areas and provide even greater value to your users. Content that is clearly marked with copyright notice from a third party other than John Wiley & Sons, Inc. cannot be used on your site. You'll have to contact the copyright owner for permission to reproduce that material.

Can I include specific information about your product on my site, such as cover images and price?

We encourage you to include information such as title, author and even cover images. Please do not list the price, however. Prices in our database change frequently and without notice, and customers may be confused if they see one price on your site and another price on ours. To be safe, it is best to avoid putting prices on your site.

How do I change my account information?

You can manage all your account settings in your Commission Junction Account Manager. Here you can update most of your account information, such as e-mail address, mailing and pay to address, and user name/password.

Will becoming an Affiliate increase traffic to my site?

Our Affiliate Program is a revenue-sharing program. It is not designed to help you increase traffic to your site; however, it enhances your site with content, so your user return rate may be higher.

How can I contact you if I still have questions?

If you still have questions about the Wiley Affiliate Program, please contact us at affiliates@wiley.com, or at 1-800-956-7339, ext. 33231.

I operate more than one web site. Can I still be an Affiliate?

Yes. You can have multiple sites as an Affiliate. You can have one Affiliate account with us that will include all of your sites. You can track the progress of each of your sites separately and be paid with only one commission check.

I'm an author. Can my web site be an Affiliate?

Yes. We particularly encourage our authors to become Wiley Affiliates. Affiliate commissions are separate from your royalty payments.

Is my web site eligible to become an Affiliate?

Most sites will qualify to participate in the program. Anyone may submit an application, but we do reserve the right to refuse membership to a site or revoke a site's membership at any time if we deem that it contains objectionable content or images.

Please Note: At this time Wiley can only compensate affiliates for sales originating from the United States, Canada, Central and South America, and Asia. We hope to extend it to other countries in the future.

I don't have a web site. Can I still apply?

Unfortunately, you must have a web site to become a Wiley Affiliate. In order for us to accept you as an Affiliate, we must be able to view your web site.

Can I participate in other affiliate programs?

Yes, you can also have links to other affiliate partners on your site.

How do I create links?

In your Commission Junction Account Manager, you will use the Get Links feature to access Wiley links. If the link and/or banner art you're looking for isn't here, then you can contact affiliates@wiley.com and we will provide you with more options.

Where should I place the links on my site?

You should place links where they are easy for your site visitors to find, such as on your home page and any other high-traffic areas. If you place the links in an easily accessible location on your site, your visitors will be more likely to make a purchase.

How often should I update my links?

You should update links to our products frequently. We are constantly adding new products, so you should create new links that fit the interests of your visitors.

What if I operate more than one web site?

You can have multiple sites under one affiliate account. You can create links specifically for each site and generate separate reports for each site. You will receive one commission check for all sites.

How much can I earn?

We cannot predict how much you will earn from our Affiliate Program because we do not have any information about your web site or your visitors.

How do I know how much commission I've earned?

Through your Commission Junction Account Manager, you can access daily reports that provide information on impressions, click throughs, orders, shipments, and commissions earned.

How often do I get paid?

We will send you a check for a percentage of sales you referred to our site every month, provided you earn more than $50. If you did not reach the payment threshold of $50, your earnings will be carried over to the next month or until you reach the threshold.

Each month, you will start earning the base commission of 7.5%, as your monthly net sales exceed the commission tier thresholds your commission percent will increase accordingly. On monthly net sales between $1,601 and $3,300, you will earn 9% commission. On monthly net sales over $3,300 you will earn 10% commission.

Do I earn commissions on my own purchases?

Yes. When you buy products from us through your web site, you earn the same commission on your purchase that you would from a visitor purchase.

What about product returns?

If a user returns a product for a refund, or if credit card charges are reversed due to a dispute or credit card fraud, your account will be debited for any commission earned on that transaction.

What are return days and how do you track what visitors were referred from my site?

Return days allow you to be compensated for orders placed on a Wiley site after the initial referral. When a visitor initially comes to a Wiley site from your site, they will receive a cookie that will expire after a fourteen-day period. Within this time period, the visitor will be able to come back to our site and make a purchase. When a purchase is made, Wiley will capture the cookie information from the visitor. The cookie will contain your unique site identifier that will allow us to compensate you accordingly.

How can I monitor my sales?

You can monitor your sales by accessing reports as often as you like through your Commission Junction Account Manager.

Who processes orders and handles customer service?

Wiley handles all order processing and customer service for the customers that you refer to our sites. All you have to do is place links on your site.

How will you know that the orders came from my site?

All links from your site to our sites contain a unique identifier so that every time a user comes to us via your site, we know to credit you when a purchase is made.

How often can I run reports?

You can run reports daily if you wish. Your Commission Junction Account Manager is updated daily with the latest information about your site.

I operate more than one web site. Can you track them separately but pay me with one commission check?

Yes. You can have multiple sites under one Affiliate account. You can create links and generate reports specifically for each site, but you will receive one commission check for all of your sites. To set up an account with multiple sites, please contact us at affiliates@wiley.com with the names and URLs of the additional sites.

What happens if I terminate my affiliate membership? Will I be paid for my earnings if they don't surpass your payment threshold?

If you terminate your affiliate membership, you will not receive any commissions on sales made after termination date. You will be paid for you earnings before the termination date as long as they exceed our payment threshold of $50. Unfortunately, you must exceed our payment threshold to be paid for your earnings.
