FIRST RUNNER-UP -- Our first runner-up is the Coal City Public Library District in Coal City, IL .

The staff at Coal City Public District created a Frommer's theme to help patrons find their own “Wonderland” destination with Frommer’s travel guides. Their library was complete with a greeting from an famous Catepillar and Pauline Frommer shrunk down just like Alice in her Wonderland. Patrons could find Arthur Frommer hiding in the romance novel section with the Queen of Hearts, as well as, encouraging patrons to travel around the world to celebrate their “Un-Birthday”. Just like Alice in her Wonderland, Arthur and Pauline guided patrons throughout a unique adventure of discovery in the Coal City Public Library District.

SECOND RUNNER-UP -- Our second runner-up is the Locust Valley Library in Locust Valley, NY.

The theme for the Locust Valley Library was "Frommer's Travel Guides….Don’t Leave Home Without Them". Patrons could "follow the golden brick road to Frommerland". Pauline Frommer appeared as Dorothy Gale with her own "Ruff-rommer" pup in a basket. Arthur Frommer appeared as the professor, who we all know will later make an appearance in "Frommerland" as the wizard of travel. The Locust Valley Library also included a picture of the "golden brick road to Frommerland" on their computer monitors to encourage patrons to use www.frommers.com for their travel needs.

THIRD RUNNER-UP -- Our third runner-up is the Schlessman Family Branch, Denver Public Library in Denver, CO.

The Schlessman Family Branch travel display theme was Frommer's will take you wherever you want to go. Along with the way finder sign showing the distance to a variety of destinations, The Schlessman Family Branch made their display "green". By repurposing an actual car door, license plates, streets signs and authentic maps, The Schlessman Family Branch showed us how travel can be “green”.
