James J. Cochran is the Bank of Ruston Endowed Research Professor of Quantitative Analysis and Computational Modeling; Senior Scientist, Center for Information Assurance; and Senior Scientist/ Analytic Group Director, Center for Secure Cyberspace at Louisiana Tech University. He holds a B.S., an M.S., an M.B.A. (all from Wright State University), and a Ph.D. (from the University of Cincinnati). He has held the position of Visiting Scholar with the Stanford University Department of Statistics, the University of South Africa Department of Decision Sciences, and the Universidad de Talca Department of Industrial Engineering.

Dr. Cochran has published over twenty papers in peer-reviewed journals and coedited the Anthology of Statistics in Sports. In 2005, he was elected to the International Statistics Institute in 2005 in recognition of his contributions to the development and application of statistical methods. He is the Editor-in-Chief of INFORMS Transactions on Education and serves on the editorial boards of seven other journals including Interfaces, the Journal of the Chilean Institute of Operations Research, ORiON, and the Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports. In 2008, he was awarded the INFORMS Prize for the Teaching of OR/MS Practice. Dr. Cochran is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and the Operations Research Society of South Africa.
