The Source is run by the Mambo Foundation and the members of the Mambo Steering Committee. The Source is the official site for distribution of the Mambo core files. Updates, upgrades, and patch files are usually released first on this site. The Source also includes an archive of old versions of the Mambo core in the event you need to patch an older site or upgrade to the current version. This site also has resources to assist developers who are promoting Mambo-based goods or services.

The Xchange is the largest repository of Mambo extensions, with hundreds of projects underway at any one time. Though the site can be a bit difficult to browse, it is worth the effort due to the wealth of options contained inside.
