About the J.K. Lasser Institute

The J.K. Lasser Institute publishes a wide range of tax, financial, and business books and newsletters. There really was a J.K (Jacob Kay) Lasser, a second-generation Polish-American. He apprenticed at a New York accounting firm, then became an accountant at a law firm. While in this position, he memorized a 200-page book written by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. Lasser was good: within a few years, he became a CPA and soon set up his own office. The rest is history.

Today, the institute lives on with leading global business publisher, John Wiley & Sons.
