Academic Entrepreneurship is now an institutionalized trend across the contemporary U.S. higher education system. This monograph provides a concise but thorough overview and discussion of the primary literatures that address the trends and implications of entrepreneurship on contemporary higher education environments in the United States.

The consistent themes that are woven throughout the overview and discussion are the lack of consensus on the meaning of "academic entrepreneurship" and the tensions that have arisen out of this now pervasive movement. Accordingly the authors provide readers with a set of important questions to be answered through careful empirical attention.
