We yearn to be fully alive and fully human, but for many of us this yearning does not translate into actuality. Now in ABOUT YOU: Fully Human, Fully Alive (Jossey-Bass, a Wiley imprint; August 2010; $22.95; Cloth; ISBN: 978-0-470-48164-6 award-winning broadcaster, and author, Dick Staub explores the disconnect between our collective memories and the reality of our identity today.
About You addresses irreligious, religious, spiritual seekers and all kinds of Christians and shows us that Jesus came to satisfy our universal longing for a fully human life, not to establish narrow us versus them religious attitudes. It proposes that Jesus didn't come to make us Christian; Jesus came to make us fully human. In a day of extreme religious divide, Staub reminds us that ALL humans possess value regardless of nationality, ethnic origin, religion or creed.
In a fresh exploration of contemporary culture, and the ancient Biblical stories of creation, fall and redemption, Staub explains that salvation is not about going to heaven when we die; it is about experiencing a full and abundant life now. In practical, down-to-earth, language, ABOUT YOU deals with this concept on three levels:
- Anthropologically (Our human potential and the dilemma of not reaching it)
- Theologically (God’s existence and involvement in our human story)
- Practically (Steps we can take to enjoy a more complete and satisfying life now
