KIM ERWIN is an Assistant Professor at the IIT Institute of Design. She comes to academia after fifteen years in the design planning field. In her professional practice, Kim specializes in the information-intensive areas of the planning process, focusing on the communication of user research and strategy for innovation, and has done so for such companies as Motorola, Texas Instruments, Alamo Rent A Car, and other innovation-curious firms.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

 

Kim Erwin is a professor at the IIT Institute of Design in Chicago, where she is building a new field of study around the communication-intensive aspects of the innovation process. During her twenty years in innovation consulting, she has helped clients such as Motorola, McDonald's, Purina, Kraft, Church & Dwight, Alamo Rental Car and others create and communicate "the new."  She currently lives in Chicago with her husband, Tom Mulhern, and their two sons.
