Take an in-depth look at adult learning and education for citizenship and civic engagement. This chapter provides an overview of the early history of adult civic education prior to the 1920s and introduces the influence of Eduard Lindeman to the adult education movement in the United States after the 1920s while illustrating the forms and characteristics of adult civic education up through the 1950s.
