"…an interesting and apparent introspective look at the efficiency of refineries and how this efficiency can be adapted to future needs. It provides interesting and thought-provoking reading." (Petroleum Science and Technology, Volume 23, Numbers 5-6, 2005)
"…an interesting and apparent introspective look at the efficiency of refineries and how this efficient can be adapted to future needs." (Energy Sources, June 2005)
The proposed book gives a very detailed and well-founded approach to analyze the energy balances of a refinery and its processes. This will be mostly interesting for those making similar studies, for which the detailed unravelling provided for in the proposed book is a valuable source of information.
The book appears complete for refineries of similar and less complex nature. Also, parallels can be drawn for refineries with other complexity. I cannot detect any gaps, great details have been provided for all areas described in the book.
The Authors have successfully provided the "Instruments", i.e. the methodology, information and criteria to allow analysis of the energy use, economics and environmental impact.
The first author's knowledge of the petroleum refining and oil industry and his intellect in this field is measured amongst the best professional peers in the industry. He is known and respected in many quarters of the world.
The authors have a long standing reputation in the oil industry, known worldwide also by several publications and presentations.
