J. Östman, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Karolinska Institute. Dr. ֳtman was formerly head of the Center for Metabolism and Endocrinology, Huddinge University Hospital. He is past Chairman of the Swedish Society for Diabetology, and author of about 300 publications, including original articles, reviews, books, and book chapters. Major research topics are regulation of human adipose tissue metabolism, diabetes epidemiology, and transplantation of insulin producing tissue in human diabetes.
Mona Britton, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. Britton is Senior Medical Advisor at the Swedish Council on Technology Assessment in Health Care (SBU), Stockholm.
