The Fifth Edition of the atlas includes a total of 292 diseases and 328 color plates. The main emphasis is placed on the clinical diagnostic aspects of the diseases, but some epidemiologic features have been included. Histopathology has been dealt with only when necessary for the understanding of the given disease.

The diseases are arranged according to the WHO classification, thus facilitating the use of the atlas.
