Cell Biochemistry and Function is a print and online journal that publishes original research articles and short reviews on the molecular basis of biochemical processes that regulate cellular function, and the control or alteration of these processes by the action of hormones, drugs, xenobiotics or disease.
Areas of particular interest are:
- signalling; signal transduction; hormones, growth factors and cytokines
-
cell cycle; programmed cell death/apoptosis; ageing; cancer
-
cell proliferation and differentiation; development
-
lipid peroxidation; free radicals and antioxidants
-
Metabolism and organelle function; membrane biochemistry
-
Immune and inflammatory responses
-
Therapeutic interventions and preventative medicine
The primary focus is on human and other mammalian studies, both, in vitro and in vivo, but papers describing work on other vertebrates, invertebrates, microorganisms, or plants, which impact upon mammalian cell function also fall under the remit of this Journal. Articles that are of a chemical pathology nature that report altered levels of biochemical parameters in body fluids and tissues without exploration of the molecular basis of the reported changes will not be considered for publication in CBF.
