ABOUT THIS JOURNAL
Aims and Scope
Geographical Research is the internationally refereed journal of the Institute of Australian Geographers Incorporated, the national body representing academic and professional geographers in Australia. The journal is published by Wiley on behalf of the Institute of Australian Geographers, and is managed by Editors appointed by the Council of the Institute.
The primary objective of Geographical Research is to advance innovative and high-quality publishing demonstrating the strengths and diversity of all parts of discipline. The journal includes academic papers, research reports, commentaries, book panels, and book reviews. Short papers from practising (professional) geographers and geographers in education are most welcome.
Geographical Research also invites select contributions to 'Antipodean Perspectives', a series of review articles highlighting contributions to specific subfields of geography. Authors recognised as leaders in their subfields provide to the Journal high-level reviews of ‘global’ developments in the subfield and consider how geographical research/scholarship has contributed to, and extended, international knowledge conducted in the region (embracing Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific). More information about these articles may be obtained from the Editor-in-Chief.
The Editor-in-Chief for Geographical Research is Professor Elaine Stratford (Tasmania). Other Editors in the team include Dr Amanda Davies (Curtin), Associate Professor Brian Finlayson (Melbourne) and Dr Wayne Stephenson (Otago). Our Editorial Assistant is Dr Kirstie Petrou. This editorial team represents a strong combination of experience, a range of sub-areas within geography, excellent international links, and the potential for ongoing innovation.

All submissions to Geographical Research are processed online in ScholarOne. Accepted articles are first published online in Early View, which is available through your library’s electronic subscription. This service enables articles to be downloaded and circulated quickly after they are received in final form. Papers are then published in hard copy four times a year in February, May, August, and November.
