The journal focuses on the most significant developments of research with unicellular fungi and is essential reading for those wishing to keep up to date with this rapidly moving field.
Topics covered include:
- genetics
- genomics
- molecular biology
- cell and developmental biology
- systems biology
- biochemistry
- physiology
- pathobiology
- biotechnology
- ecology
- taxonomy
- evolution
The journal contains two special sections, Sequencing Reports and Functional Analysis Reports , that deal, respectively, with the systematic analysis of the sequences and function of genes and genomes. Sequencing Reports for one or a few genes must include some experimental validation of function.
In addition, the journal promotes the collegiate activities of the yeast research community by publishing announcements of Meetings and Courses, as well as the Abstracts of major conferences.
Yeast also has a Current Awareness on Yeast section that provides a comprehensive survey of recent publications on yeasts.
