The easiest way to get to Sienna

The JOR CORE will be held at University of Sienna Congress Centre, Certosa di Pontignano, Sienna, Italy, 7-11 October 2009. http://www.unisi.it/servizi/certosa

The closest international airports to Sienna are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa.

There is a direct service to Florence and Pisa from the following international destinations: Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Basel, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Kiev, London, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Prague, Stuttgart, Zurich, New York and many more.

Sienna can be reached by train from both Pisa and Florence. You can find information on the rail services and buy tickets here.

The Congress Centre

You will be accommodated in the Certosa di Pontignano Congress Centre, Sienna, Italy, 7-11 October 2009 for the 4 nights of the JOR CORE. Read more about the location of this wonderful centre and its facilities here.

Meals

All breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be taken in the Congress Centre.

Excursion

We will take a break from the JOR CORE on Saturday 10 October between 11 am and 2 pm. The final programme for the excursion will be announced later. We will arrive back at the Centre in good time for afternoon session at 2.30 pm.

Banquet

On the last night of the school, Saturday 10 October, we will hold a special banquet at the Centre. The banquet is included in the participation fee.

Teaching

All teaching at the JOR CORE will take place at the Congress Centre. You will find more information about the Centre here.

JOR Summer School running team

At the previous JOR Summer Schools we have had a group of runners who willingly ran 5 km every morning. So bring your running shoes and join in. It is a great way to start the day!

Weather

The tourist information says that the autumn is a beautiful time to visit Siena. The weather is still warm at the end of October and even in to November. The average temperatures in Autumn are 24° to 20°. The average daylight hours range from 8 to 9 hours per day.

Package price for JOR CORE 2009

The JOR CORE will be held in the University of Sienna's Congress Centre, Certosa di Pontignano, Italy from Wednesday 7 – Sunday 11 October, 2009.

Participation fee: 700 Euros/885 US dollars

The participation fee covers the following package:

• Hotel accommodation (4 nights)
• All meals from dinner Wednesday 7 October to lunch Sunday 11 October 2009
• Excursion
• Tutoring and teaching materials
• Banquet
• Free online access to JOR from the registration date to the end of 2009

The package is a fixed arrangement.
Participants must arrange and cover their own travel expenses.

In order to get the full benefit of the JOR CORE 2009, participants are advised not to bring accompanying persons.

Your application should include:

• A short outline of reasons for applying
• An updated short CV with publication list
• A recent photograph of you

The participants will be selected by the JOR course managers based on the submitted application.
