TopNews and Announcements
New Initiatives from The Canadian Geographer (TCG) / Le Géographie canadien (LGC)
TCG / LGC is delighted to announce some recent 'life-cycle' initiatives. First, a short series of articles by luminary scholars who were hired in the 1960s and have enjoyed outstanding research careers was initiated by Larry Bourne (on Urban Geography) in volume 51:2. Wayne Rouse (on climatology) and Bruce Mitchell (on resource management) have articles in the first two issues of volume 52. Several more are to follow. These articles provide personalized reflections on the research trajectories of key scholars.
Second, TCG / LGC has introduced a New Scholar Paper Award to encourage new scholars to fully participate in the Association's activities. A prize of $500 plus a one-year CAG membership will be awarded for the best paper by a new scholar every second year, beginning in March 2008. For more details contact the Editor.
Third, a series of articles by early career scholars drawn from across Geography is being organized by Michael Buzzelli and Nancy Doubleday. Finally, I am hopeful that a short series of articles by women luminaries that have enjoyed outstanding careers for 25 years or so will be implemented shortly.
TCG / LGC seeks to serve all faces of Geography to be relevant to all generations of scholars! TCG / LGC invites you all to participate and to be included in your research portfolio. TCG / LGC is distributed globally by Wiley-Blackwell in print and online format.
