  • 'The Journal has established itself as one of the most widely read Family Therapy Journals in the world. When I took some of the recent editions off the shelf I could see why. I read for the next two days. There is a rich variety of topics covered, reflecting the many perspectives of its international contributors as well as imaginative editing that has produced special editions covering important themes that might not have been covered otherwise. The articles are readable, unstuffy and helpful while maintaining academic rigour. '
    John Byng-Hall, Tavistock Clinic, London
  • ' JFT has established itself as a magnet for conceptually challenging, clinically powerful articles in the field, combining depth - potentiated in the Special Issues - with breadth - evident in each issue. '
Carlos E. Sluzki, M. D. Director, Psychiatric Services, Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UCLA and previous Editor, Family Process
  • We screen the international Journals to make a selection of articles that are translated into Dutch and published in our Journal. The JFT is one of our most successful journals. We have translated many excelllent papers out of the JFT, excellent because of the relevancy of the topic and the clinical relevance for therapists. '
    Freddy Lange, Chief Editor, Gezinstherapie

  • 'There are several characteristics of the Journal of Family Therapy that I find especially refreshing. First, I admire the candour and directness of many of the authors; there is little of the knee jerk, reflexive adoration of the 'masters' and of 'accepted truths' that I see so often in many other family therapy journals, with concomitantly more open thinking. And yet, this all happens without disrespect, disparagement or hostility. Second, while the Journal maintains high academic standards, somehow the writing often seems more informal and conversational without compromising on depth or clarity. And third, more of the authors seem genuinely to respect differences (e.g. , between 'schools' of therapy), and to understand the bases for those differences, often leading to the presentation of clinically very astute work. '
Alan S. Gurman, Professor of Psychiatry, Co-editor, Handbook of Family Therapy.
  • 'I count myself lucky nowadays if there is one really interesting paper in a journal, but here I had to read everything. '
    Dr Robin Skynner
