New Virtual Issue: 'Current concepts of the diagnosis and management of potentially malignant disorders of the oral mucosa'
An international working group comprising specialists in the field of epidemiology, oral medicine and pathology and molecular biology with a special interest in oral cancer and precancer met in London in May 2005 to discuss current concepts concerning the diagnosis and management of potentially malignant disorders of the oral mucosa. At the meeting the terminology, classifications natural history, pathology and molecular markers of diagnostic and prognostic significance were critically analysed. The workshop was co-ordinated by the WHO Collaborating Centre for Oral Cancer and Precancer in the UK. The four publications collected in this special issue of Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine represent the most important conclusions from this meeting. We certainly hope compilation of these reviews would have the benefit for our readers of the best evidence base relating to these disorders.
