Virtual Special Issue of Island Arc
Wiley-Blackwell and Island Arc are pleased to introduce the Virtual Issue of Island Arc. Virtual Issue feature special compilation of contents, available online only, that focus on a topic that is central to the scope of Island Arc and consists of articles that have been published recently in the journal. The first of these issues, entitled 'Evolution of Ophiolites in Convergent and Divergent Plate Boundaries', focuses on the diversity of ophiolites and their origin in various tectonic settings along different plate boundaries.

Island Arc Award: Message from the Editor
A new 'Island Arc Award' has been established to recognize Island Arc articles that contribute the most to our journal both through scientific achievement and impact in the scientific community. We hope this award will act as an encouragement for authors to contribute further to their science and our journal. The first Award was presented in September 2007 at the Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of Japan. The Award will be judged by a panel consisting of the two Editors-in-Chief and all Editorial Advisory Board members and will consist of a certificate signed by both JGS and Wiley-Blackwell, a memorial medal and US$500 (in total). One article will be selected each year for this Award. If your Island Arc paper appears in 2010, it could be selected for the Award in either 2013 or 2014.
Don't miss the chance! Send your ground-breaking results to Island Arc today! We are looking forward to welcoming submission of an even greater number of first-rate articles!
