Journal of Integrative Plant Biology (JIPB, formerly Acta Botanica Sinica), is one of the leading scientific journals in China with a growing international readership. The aim of the journal is to report novel scientific discoveries related to all processes of plant biology, using genetic, chemical, cell and molecular biological tools to understand plants at micro- and macro-scale. Preliminary observations, purely descriptive studies, and reporting single plant-derived chemicals fall beyond the scope of the journal. The journal publishes peer-reviewed papers in 3 categories: invited reviews, research articles, and new technologies. Research articles are published under 6 themes:
♦ Cell & Developmental Biology
♦ Metabolic Biology & Biochemistry
♦ Signal Transduction & Stress Response
♦ Systems Biology & Molecular Physiology
♦ Sexual Reproduction
♦ Molecular Evolution & Ecology

JIPB's Best Paper Published in 2008
As decided by the board, an annual prize is awarded for the "Best Invited Expert Review" and "Best Research Article", selected from all papers published during the previous year. The main criteria are quality of research and innovation, number of citations, and number of downloads through Wiley-Blackwell InterScience.
From the top five candidate articles in each category, the board members finally decided upon the following two articles:
1. Best Invited Expert Review Article:
Li-Juan Quan, Bo Zhang, Wei-Wei Shi and Hong-Yu Li (2008). Hydrogen Peroxide in Plants: a Versatile Molecule of the Reactive Oxygen Species Network. J. Integr. Plant Biol. 50(1): 2-18.
2. Best Research Article:
Yan-Yan Du, Peng-Cheng Wang, Jia Chen and Chun-Peng Song (2008). Comprehensive Functional Analysis of the Catalase Gene Family in Arabidopsis thaliana. J. Integr. Plant Biol. 50(10): 1318-1326.
2008 ISI/SCI Impact Factors confirm JIPB as a good plant sciences journal - a steady increase over three straight years!
We are happy and proud to report that on 19th June, 2009, ISI/SCI released their 2008 Journal Citation Reports, reporting journal impact factors for the worlds' most important scholarly journals. The "Journal of Integrative Plant Biology (JIPB)" was included and ended up with a considerable impact factor of 0.859, placing the journal on #91 in the plant sciences category (out of 155 plant sciences journals), and #242 in the very broad 'Biochemistry & Molecular Biology' journal category, which includes 276 other journals.
Journal of Integrative Plant Biology (JIPB) is now indexed by MEDLINE!
We are very proud to announce that in July 2008 the Journal of Integrative Plant Biology (JIPB) has been selected by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to be indexed in MEDLINE, the world's most important biomedical bibliographical database. NLM uses an advisory committee, the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee, composed of authorities knowledgeable in the field of biomedicine, such as physicians, researchers, educators, editors, health science librarians, and historians, to review and recommend the journal titles NLM should index. Only 15-20% of medical journals are selected at each session for inclusion in MEDLINE.
The announcement of our inclusion in Index MEDLINE is excellent news for our esteemed authors, our world-class editorial board, and our ever-growing pool of expert peer reviewers, and especially our readers and potential readers. All share in and benefit from this success.
Free Access in the Developing World
Free online access to this journal is available within institutions in the developing world through the AGORA Initiative with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the OARE Initiative (Online Access to Research in the Environment) with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
