Impact Factor: 0.683

Insect Science is an international journal, which publishes original peer-reviewed, research papers from any entomological discipline. The emphasis of the journal is on the adaptation and evolutionary biology of insects from their molecules to ecosystems including: ecology and IPM; behaviour and social biology; molecular biology; physiology, biochemistry and toxicology; genetics and development; and systematics and evolution. Reviews, special features, commentaries, book reviews, and proceedings of workshops and conferences are published in the journal.

TopNews and Announcements

The next Impact Factor of Insect Science is predicted as over 1.0

It is estimated that Insect Science' 2009 Impact Factor may be over 1.0, increased by 46% compared with last year. The official 2009 Impact Factor will be released by Thomoson Rheuters in June 2010.

Insect Science are using online submission system in 2010

Effectively from January 1 2010, all manuscripts to Insect Science shall be submitted through ScholarOne Manuscripts(http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ins). The Editor and Editorial Board of the journal believe such movement will help manage the peer review process better and shorten the turnaround time before a decision. We hope the authors and reviewers will enjoy the benefit brought by this system. Please contact Dr Carrie YunXian Zhao(zhaoyx@ioz.ac.cn), Managing Editor, for any question or advice.

Call for Papers for Special Issue: Insects and Biofuels

Guest edited by Dr. Jian-Zhong Sun, Mississippi State University and Dr. Michael E. Scharf, University of Florida , this special issue will aim to promote research and collaborations on how insects digest lignocellulosic material, identify the types of mechanisms involved in these processes, describe what is known about the role of symbiotic microbes in this process, and connect this knowledge to potential applications to biofuels production, as well as other relevant scientific areas.

We invite researchers in all related scientific areas regarding to insects and their potentials for biofuels to submit a manuscript for this special issue. Original research papers dealing with any aspect of the topic, ranging from molecular/physiological to ecological approaches, are welcome. Review papers are also invited (need to submit a writing plan to guest editor prior to a full length of manuscript development).

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least 2 members of an Invited Panel of Referees. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the Author Guidelines on the journal's web page (http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/journals/ins) and submitted by email attachment in MS Word format to the Guest Editor, Dr. Jian-Zhong Sun (email: jzsun1002@hotmail.com) no later than August 30, 2009.

Congratulations to S.M. Greenberg, A.T. Showler and T.X. Liu

Insect Science is very pleased to inform you that the article "Effects of neem-based insecticides on beet armyworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)"by S. M.Greenberg, A.T. Showler & T.-X. Liu, which was published in Insect Science (2005) 12, 17-23, was rewarded an outstanding dissertation in the 4th Chinese Association of Science and Technology(CAST) periodical evaluation.

Click here and submit your manuscript today, for your opportunity to be recognised by CAST!
