Corneal oedema after cataract surgery: predisposing factors and corneal graft outcome

Claesson et al. in Sweden and UK examined pseudophakic bullous keratopathy in the Swedish cornea transplant register. They found phacoemulsification to be a risk factor for persistent macular edema after cataract surgery. Immediate corneal transplants had a better survival rate than keratoplasty for late onset pseudophakic bullous keratopathy.
