The Wound Healing Society was founded in May 1989. In spite of its young age, the Society has become the premiere international organization focusing on the clinical and basic science of wound healing. The Society continues to grow rapidly with a membership now exceeding 700 members. The Society's missions include providing a venue for exchange of biomedical information, fostering training in wound healing, supporting wound research, serving as a resource and unified authority to government agencies and corporations, and disseminating information in the area of tissue repair. These missions attract a diverse membership of physicians, researchers, nurses, patient care providers and students from academic institutions, industry, and private practice.
