International Lake Environment Committee

Lakes and Reservoirs: Research and Management is the official journal of the International Lake Environment Committee Foundation (ILEC): http://www.ilec.or.jp.

ILEC was formed in 1986 as an international non-governmental organization (NGO), and given legal status in 1987 by the Japanese Environment Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

ILEC's mission is:

To advance international cooperation for conservation of lake environments and promote environmentally sound management of world lakes through encouraging investigations and research on rational and suitable methods for harmony between environmental management and sustainable development, and scientific knowledge on lake environments internationally.
