The Asian Pacific Society of Respirology was established in 1985. The objectives of the Society are the advancement and promotion of knowledge of the respiratory system in health and disease. It strives to encourage research, improve clinical practice through teaching, increase awareness of health problems in the area and promote the exchange of knowledge among respirologists in the Asian and Pacific region.

The specific aims of the Society are:

  • Promotion and coordination of activities in the field of respirology
  • Fostering research activities in the field of respirology
  • Organization and coordination of regular congresses and occasional meetings
  • Publishing a newsletter and a journal

Adopted as the official English journal of the Japanese Respiratory Society and preferred journal of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
