Instructions for authors
Original contributions (not previously published, whether hard or soft copy) are welcomed, covering any psychoanalytic topic. Please refer to paragraph five below for papers previously published in a language other than English.
All papers must have an abstract in English. Authors are asked to pay particular attention to the abstract, as this must present the main argument and the way it is supported and will be used to help the process of evaluation. It is therefore important that it does justice to the paper and is translated to the highest possible standard using a professional translator if necessary. The abstract should be between 150 and 200 words and should be printed on a separate page at the beginning of the paper. Papers recommended for publication that have not been written in English will be translated at IJP's expense.
All contributions must be accompanied by a separate covering page detailing: (a) the title; (b) name(s) of author(s) and place(s) where the work was completed; (c) an abbreviated running headline not exceeding 35 letters and spaces; (d) the name, complete postal address, email address, telephone and fax numbers of the author to whom all correspondence should be addressed and proofs will be sent to for checking if accepted for publication; and (e) keywords.
All papers will be sent for anonymous peer review. Wherever possible, authors will receive detailed feedback, regardless of the decision reached. It is usual to ask for some revision of papers that are eventually accepted for publication.
Papers that have earlier appeared in a bulletin, review or other publications, produced by a society, federation, association or similar body that is circulated mainly to members of that body will not be considered as previously published. Provided that the copyright belongs to the author (or the author obtains permission from the other publication), these papers are eligible for submission to IJP.
Any paper that was previously published in a language other than English will be considered if submitted in an English translation suitable for publication.
When submitting a paper, the author must confirm:
i. that the paper or its main argument and content has not been published elsewhere and is not being considered for publication elsewhere, in whole or in part;
ii. that the various approaches available to protect patient privacy have been considered and that the one chosen is specified;
iii. that the paper does not contain any potentially libelous matter;
iv. that the paper does not involve any breach of copyright; and
v. that he/she agrees to sign a copyright assignment form should the paper be accepted.
The author should indicate the sections of IJP appropriate to the paper: psychoanalytic theory and technique; history of psychoanalysis; clinical communications; research; educational and professional issues; psychoanalytic psychotherapy; interdisciplinary studies; child and adult psychoanalysis. Articles for the sections The Analyst at Work, and Psychoanalytic Controversies are normally invited; however, proposals are welcome. Please contact the Editors before starting work on these articles.
The maximum length for manuscripts in English is 10,000 words. A nominal addition of 1500 words is permitted in papers written in languages other than English. These maxima do not include the abstract, and references, figures or tables are counted as 250 words for each item occupying a half-page, or 500 words for a full page. Please include a word count with your submitted manuscript.
Abstracts of all papers will be published in French, German, Spanish and Italian. Colleagues fluent in more than one language should provide abstracts in all those they can.
In all submissions involving case reports authors should state in their cover letter which method they have chosen of protecting the patient's privacy (Gabbard, 2000, Int J Psychoanal, 81:1071-1086). Such information should be kept out of the published paper itself to avoid undermining the disguise. When consent is obtained from the patient or patients, authors should indicate in the cover letter if the written consent has been saved and is available if necessary.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from the copyright owner to reproduce any previously published material within their manuscript (including quotations, poetry, song lyrics and pictures) and these permissions need to be supplied with the final accepted version of their article. During online submission of the manuscript, if it contains any reproduced materials, authors will be asked to tick a box to confirm that they have already sought all permissions in written form from the copyright owners. If the manuscript is accepted, authors will be asked to provide these written permissions before publication.
Preparation of the manuscript
Either American or British English may be used, provided that spelling and punctuation styles are internally consistent, and in accord with any standard English dictionary, such as Oxford or the widely accepted editions of Webster's.
The anonymity of the peer review process can be sustained only if the paper is written in such a way as not to disclose the author's identity. Please note when submitting online that author details and the abstract are loaded separately from the paper itself, which must not include any references to the author(s).
Use double-spacing throughout, including quotations, footnotes and references, with at least 25mm margins all round. Page numbers should be included at the bottom right of each page.
Footnotes should be kept to the minimum strictly required and should not be used for giving bibliographical references. They should be numbered consecutively. Where extended background is necessary, the information can be included as an appendix, with a reference to the appendix placed appropriately in the text.
Tables, figures, photographs and diagrams should also be kept to a minimum as demanded by the argument in the paper.
Quotations should be carefully checked for accuracy and page numbers must be given. All insertions into the original text should be displayed in square brackets, for example, 'he [Freud] regards …'
Italics in the original must be indicated. Any additional emphasis in quoted matter should be indicated in the typescript and by adding the phrase '(my italics)' in round brackets after the quotation. For quotations from Freud, the Standard Edition version must generally be used, with the appropriate page number of the volume given in brackets in the text. Three dots should be used for indicating omissions in the quoted text, for example, 'This is … always the case'. If editions other than the Standard Edition are used, authors should indicate why the alternative has been chosen.
References should only be made to works that are strictly relevant and necessary, and no attempt to compile an extensive 'bibliography' should be made.
References in the text are given by quoting the author's name followed by the year of publication in round brackets, for example, Freud (1918) or (Freud, 1918). If two co-authors are cited, both names should be given, for example, Marty and de M'Uzan (1963) or (Marty and de M'Uzan, 1963). If more than two co-authors are cited, the reference in the text should take the form of, for example, Smith et al. (1972) or (Smith et al., 1972). Wherever possible, please avoid repeating other elements of the reference, such as the article, journal or book title, within the main text. These details should be confined to the reference list.
Full reference to all works cited in the text should be given in the list of references at the end of the paper. The items in the list of references should correspond exactly to the works cited in the text and should not contain additional entries. Authors are listed in the references in alphabetical order, and their works in chronological order of the date of publication. (For Freud's works the relevant dates are given in round brackets in the Standard Edition.)
If more than one work published in the same year by an author is listed, these should be followed by a, b, c etc. When an author is listed both as a single and as a (first) co-author, references to single authorship should precede joint ones. Authors' names are repeated wherever necessary.
Titles and subtitles of books should be in italic, with initial caps, except for names, only, and the place of publication and name of publisher should be given. If a reference is made to an edition which is not the original, the date of the quoted edition should also be given at the end of the reference.
In the titles of papers only the first word is capitalized. The paper's title is followed by the abbreviated name of the journal (italic), volume number and the number of both the first and last page of the article. Preferably, use Index Medicus journal title abbreviations, see www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi. If in doubt, give the name of the journal in full.
Foreign-language authors are asked to supply quotations in their English form and refer to the Standard Edition when quoting Freud, wherever possible; failing this they should indicate precisely with page numbers where the quotations occur in the foreign language versions.
In the following examples, please note the use of capital letters, punctuation, the items of information required and their sequence.

We ask all authors to prepare papers for submission in Microsoft Word format if possible. If this is not possible, an IBM PC-compatible word processing system or an Apple system can be used. Papers prepared on Apple systems should use Word rich text format if possible.

Getting started
1. Launch your web browser (supported browsers include Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Firefox 1.0.4 or higher or Safari 1.2.4) and go to International Journal of Psychoanalysis ScholarOne Manuscripts homepage (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ijp).
2. Log-in or click the "Create Account" option if you are a first-time user of ScholarOne Manuscripts.
3. If you are creating a new account.
• After clicking on "Create Account", enter your name and e-mail information and click "Next". Your e-mail information is very important.
• Enter your institution and address information as appropriate, and then click "Next."
• Enter a user ID and password of your choice (we recommend using your e-mail address as your user ID), and then select your area of expertise. Click "Finish".
4. If you have an account but have forgotten your log in details, go to "Password Help" on the International Journal of Psychoanalysis ScholarOne Manuscripts homepage and enter your email address. The system will send you details on how to log in.
5. Log-in and select "Author Center."
Submitting your manuscript
6. After you have logged in, click the Submit a Manuscript or Submit an EndNote Manuscript (if this is available on this site and you have used an EndNote formatting template to create your manuscript in Microsoft Word) link in the menu bar.
7. Enter data and answer questions as appropriate.
8. Click the "Next" button on each screen to save your work and advance to the next screen.
9. You are required to upload your files.
• Click on the "Browse" button and locate the file on your computer.
• Select the designation of each file in the drop down next to the Browse button.
• When you have selected all files you wish to upload, click the "Upload Files" button.
10. Review your submission (in both PDF and HTML formats) before sending to the Journal. Click the "Submit" button when you are finished reviewing.
You may suspend a submission at any phase before clicking the "Submit" button and save it to submit later. After submission, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You can also access ScholarOne Manuscripts any time to check the status of your manuscript. The Journal will inform you by e-mail once a decision has been made.

Authors will be required to sign a Copyright Assignment Form (CAF) for all papers accepted for publication. Copyright assignment is a condition of publication and papers will not be passed to the publisher for production unless a signed form has been received. Proof copies and changes
Page proofs will be sent out quickly after receipt of the final version of the paper and these will be required back very promptly. Authors are responsible for the contents of their papers. Papers will only be published after explicit approval of the proof has been received. For this reason, authors should stay in contact with the production editor if planning to be away. A paper will normally appear online or in the issue immediately following the return of the page proofs. The Editors cannot guarantee that changes an author may wish to make in the text of an accepted manuscript will be made after the paper has been accepted for publication. Changes at proof stage may not be accepted if, in the opinion of the editorial staff, they involve an unnecessary expenditure of time or money.
Early View
The International Journal of Psychoanalysis is included in Wiley-Blackwell's Early View service. Early View articles are complete full-text articles published online in advance of their publication in a printed issue. Early View articles are complete and final. They have been fully reviewed, revised and edited for publication, and the authors' final corrections have been incorporated. Because they are in final form, no changes can be made after online publication. The nature of Early View articles means that they do not yet have volume, issue or page numbers, so Early View articles cannot be cited in the traditional way. They are therefore given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows the article to be cited and tracked before it is allocated to an issue. After print publication, the DOI remains valid and can continue to be used to cite and access the article.
Letters to the editors
Letters to the editors may comment on articles previously published in The International Journal of Psychoanalysis or on current issues in psychoanalysis. Letters are not to exceed approximately 1000 words, with a maximum of 3 references. Comments may be solicited from the author if the letter refers to a particular article in the Journal. All letters to the Editor are subject to editing and possible abridgement.

ii. que les différentes méthodes disponibles pour protéger la confidentialité des patients ont été prises en considération, et celle choisie doit être précisée ;
iii. que l'article ne contient pas d'éléments de nature potentiellement diffamatoire ;
iv. que l'article n'implique aucune violation de copyright ; et
v. que l'auteur accepte de signer un « Copyright Assignment Form » si l'article est accepté.
L'auteur est invité à indiquer la section de l'IJP la plus appropriée à son article : théorie et technique psychanalytiques ; histoire de la psychanalyse ; communications cliniques ; recherche ; aspects professionnels et de formation ; psychothérapie psychanalytique ; études interdisciplinaires ; psychanalyse des enfants et adolescents. Les articles pour les sections L'Analyste au Travail, et Controverses en Psychanalyses, sont normalement sur invitation. Toutefois des suggestions sont les bienvenues. Les auteurs sont priés de se mettre en contact avec les rédacteurs en chef avant de commencer à travailler sur ce type d'articles.
Le nombre maximum de mots pour les manuscrits en anglais est de 10.000. Un nombre additionnel de 1500 mots est autorisé pour des articles écrits dans des langues autres que l'anglais. Pour tous les articles soumis impliquant des cas cliniques, leurs auteurs doivent déclarer dans leur lettre d'envoi la méthode qu'ils ont choisie pour protéger la confidentialité des patients (voir Gabbard, 2000, Int J Psychoanal, 81:1071-1086). Cette information ne doit pas figurer dans l'article publié lui-même, afin d'éviter de fragiliser le déguisement. Lorsque l'auteur a obtenu le consentement du ou des patients, il doit indiquer dans la lettre d'envoi si ce consentement écrit a été conservé en cas de besoin.
Les auteurs ont la responsabilité d'obtenir la permission du détenteur des droits d'auteur pour toute reproduction dans leur manuscrit de matériel précédemment publié (y compris des citations, des poèmes, des chants lyriques et des images). Ces autorisations doivent être fournies en même temps que la version finale acceptée de leur article. Lors de la transmission électronique de l'article, si celui-ci contient du matériel reproduit, les auteurs auront à cocher une case afin de confirmer qu'ils ont réuni toutes les autorisations sous forme écrite de la part des détenteurs des droits. Si le manuscrit est accepté, les auteurs auront à produire ces autorisations écrites avant publication.
Préparation du manuscrit
On peut utiliser aussi bien l'anglais américain que britannique, à condition que les styles d'orthographe et de ponctuation soient cohérents, et en accord avec les dictionnaires classiques de l'anglais, comme le Oxford ou les éditions largement acceptées du Webster's.
L'anonymat du processus d'évaluation ne peut être assuré que si l'article est écrit de façon telle que l'identité de l'auteur ne soit pas révélée. Il est à noter que, lorsque l'article est soumis en ligne, les détails concernant l'auteur et le résumé sont téléchargés séparément de l'article lui-même, lequel ne doit comporter aucune référence à l'auteur (ou aux auteurs).
Il est demandé d'utiliser le double interligne, y compris pour les citations, les notes de bas de page et les références, en laissant au moins 2,5 cm de marge tout autour de la page. Les numéros de page doivent être inscrits en bas à droite de chaque page.
Les notes de bas de page doivent être restreintes au minimum nécessaire et ne pas être utilisées pour donner des références bibliographiques. Elles doivent être numérotées de façon successive. Lorsque l'article nécessite un large exposé du contexte, cette information peut être livrée sous forme d'annexe, avec un renvoi à cette annexe placé à l'endroit approprié à l'intérieur du texte.
Les tableaux, figures, photographies et diagrammes doivent aussi être restreints au minimum requis par l'argumentation de l'article.
Les citations doivent être soigneusement vérifiées dans leur exactitude et les numéros de pages correspondants indiqués. Toute insertion dans le texte original doit apparaître entre crochets, par exemple « il [Freud] considère... ».
Les italiques de l'original doivent être indiqués. Tout autre soulignement dans la citation doit être indiqué par la typographie et en ajoutant la phrase « (c'est moi qui souligne) » entre parenthèses après la citation. En général, les citations de Freud doivent être données à partir de la Standard Edition, la page et le volume appropriés figurant entre crochets dans le texte. Trois points de suspension doivent être utilisés pour indiquer une omission dans le texte cité, par exemple : « C'est ... toujours le cas ». Si l'auteur utilise des éditions autres que celle de la Standard, il doit indiquer les raisons de son choix.
Seuls les travaux strictement en rapport avec l'article doivent faire l'objet de références bibliographiques ; il n'est pas recommandé de viser à la constitution d'une vaste « bibliographie ».
Les références apparaissent dans le texte en citant le nom de l'auteur suivi de l'année de publication entre parenthèses, par exemple : Freud (1918) ou (Freud, 1918). Si deux co-auteurs sont cités, les deux noms doivent être donnés, par exemple : Marty et de M'Uzan (1963) ou (Marty et de M'Uzan, 1963). S'il y a plus de deux co-auteurs, la référence dans le texte indiquera le premier, par exemple : Smith et al. (1972) ou (Smith et al., 1972). Dans la mesure du possible, les auteurs sont priés d'éviter de répéter dans le corps de l'article d'autres éléments de la référence, tels que l'article, la revue ou le titre du livre. Ces détails doivent rester dans la liste des références.
La référence complète des oeuvres citées figurera dans la liste des références à la fin de l'article. Le contenu de la liste des références doit correspondre exactement aux travaux cités dans le texte, sans entrées supplémentaires. Les auteurs apparaîtront par ordre alphabétique et leur travaux par ordre chronologique de publication. (Pour les oeuvres de Freud, les dates correspondantes sont données entre parenthèses dans la Standard Edition).
Si sont cités plusieurs travaux du même auteur publiés la même année, il convient de les lister en ajoutant a, b, c, etc. Lorsqu'un auteur est cité à la fois comme auteur unique et comme (premier) co-auteur, les références se rapportant à lui en tant qu'auteur unique doivent précéder celles où il est co-auteur. Les noms des auteurs sont répétés chaque fois que nécessaire.
Les titres et sous-titres de livres seront mis en italiques, les initiales en majuscules, à l'exception des noms propres ; le lieu de la publication et le nom de l'éditeur doivent être indiqués. Lorsqu'une référence ne se rapporte pas à l'édition originale, la date de l'édition utilisée devra figurer à la fin de la référence.
Dans les titres des articles, seul le premier mot figure en majuscule. Le titre de l'article est suivi par le nom abrégé de la revue (en italiques), le numéro du volume et le numéro de la première et dernière pages de l'article. Pour les abréviations des revues, il est préférable d'utiliser l'Index Medicus, qui liste les abréviations officielles des titres des journaux et périodiques (voir www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi). En cas de doute, il faut citer le nom du journal en entier.
Les auteurs de langues étrangères sont priés de fournir si possible les citations en anglais en se référant à la Standard Edition, lorsqu'ils citent Freud ; en cas d'impossibilité, ils doivent indiquer précisément les numéros des pages des citations dans les traductions utilisées.
Dans les exemples suivants, merci de bien vouloir noter l'utilisation des lettres majuscules et de la ponctuation, les éléments d'information requis et leur ordre d'apparition.

Nous demandons à tous les auteurs de préparer si possible les articles qu'ils soumettent au format Microsoft Word. Lorsque ceci n'est pas possible, un programme de traitement de texte compatible IBM PC ou Apple peut être utilisé. Les textes présentés à partir des systèmes Apple devraient utiliser, si possible, un format de type texte enrichi.
Soumission et acceptation des manuscrits
Le International Journal of Psychoanalysis préfère recevoir les manuscrits -- à l'exception des Essais Filmés -- de façon électronique, par le biais du ScholarOne Manuscripts. Pour commencer
1. Lancez votre navigateur internet (les navigateurs acceptés sont Internet Explorer 5.5 ou supérieur, Firefox .0.4 ou supérieur, ou Safari 1.2.4) et allez à la page d'accueil du ScholarOne Manuscripts de l'International Journal of Psychoanalysis (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ijp).
2. Mettez vos identifiants ou cliquez sur l'option « Create Account », si vous utilisez pour la première fois le ScholarOne Manuscripts.
3. Si vous créez un nouveau compte (si vous avez cliqué sur « Create Account »)
• Après avoir cliqué sur « Create Account », entrez votre nom et votre adresse électronique, puis cliquez sur « Next ». Votre adresse mail est très importante.
• Entrez votre institution et les renseignements sur votre adresse, comme d'habitude, puis cliquez sur « Next » ;
• Entrez un ID (identifiant) d'utilisateur et le mot de passe de votre choix (comme ID d'utilisateur, nous vous recommandons d'utiliser votre adresse mail), puis choisissez votre domaine de spécialisation. Cliquez sur « Finish ».
4. Si vous avez un compte, mais vous avez oublié le détail de vos identifiants, allez à « Password help » à la page d'accueil du ScholarOne Manuscripts de l' International Journal of Psychoanalysis et mettez votre adresse e-mail. Le système va vous adresser des détails pour que vous puissiez utiliser à nouveau votre compte.

6. Après identification, cliquez sur le lien « Submit a Manuscript » ou sur le lien « Submit an EndNote Manuscript » (si cette dernière option est disponible sur ce site et que vous avez utilisé un modèle de format de type EndNote pour créer votre manuscrit sur Microsoft Word).
7. Entrez vos données et répondez aux questions posées.
8. Cliquez sur le bouton « Next » de chaque écran pour sauvegarder ce que vous avez écrit et avancer à l'écran suivant.
9. Il vous est demandé de télé-envoyer vos fichiers.
• Cliquer sur le bouton « Browse » pour localiser le fichier dans votre ordinateur.
• Sélectionnez chacun des fichiers que vous souhaitez envoyer en maintenant le bouton appuyé de façon à ce que tous les fichiers souhaités se trouvent sélectionnées à la fin de l'opération.
• Lorsque vous avez sélectionné tous les fichiers que vous souhaitez envoyer, cliquez sur le bouton « Upload Files ».
10. Parcourez les documents soumis (dans les deux formats, PDF et HTLM) avant de les envoyer au Journal. Cliquez sur le bouton « Submit » lorsque vous avez fini de les vérifier.
Il est possible de suspendre le processus à toute étape avant de cliquer sur le bouton « Submit » et de sauvegarder ce qui a déjà été fait pour continuer plus tard. Après avoir soumis le texte, vous recevrez une confirmation par e-mail. Vous pouvez également avoir accès à ScholarOne Manuscripts à tout moment pour vérifier l'état d'avancement de votre manuscrit. Épreuves et modifications
Les épreuves sont envoyées rapidement après réception de la version définitive de l'article, et doivent être retournées dans les meilleurs délais. Les auteurs sont responsables du contenu de leurs pages. Les articles ne seront publiés qu'après réception de l'acceptation explicite des épreuves. Pour cette raison, les auteurs doivent rester en contact avec l'éditeur, s'ils ont l'intention de voyager. L'article paraît généralement soit dans le numéro qui suit immédiatement la réception des épreuves corrigées, soit dans le numéro suivant. Les éditeurs ne peuvent garantir que les modifications que l'auteur désirerait apporter à un manuscrit accepté puissent avoir lieu après que l'article ait été retenu pour publication. Les modifications sur les épreuves peuvent ne pas être acceptées si elles impliquent, selon l'appréciation de l'équipe éditoriale, une dépense injustifiée de temps ou d'argent.
Lecture par avance (Early View)
Le International Journal of Psychoanalysis fait partie du service de lecture par avance Wiley-Blackwell's Early View. Les articles proposés à la lecture par avance sont des textes complets publiés en ligne avant leur publication sous forme imprimée. Les articles publiés en lecture par avance sont dans leur forme définitive. Ils ont été pleinement revus, révisés, et préparés au plan éditorial pour être publiés, et les corrections finales des auteurs ont été intégrées. Du fait qu'ils se présentent sous leur forme définitive, aucun changement ne peut avoir lieu après leur publication en ligne. De par leur nature, les articles proposés en lecture par avance n'ont pas encore d'attribution de volume, de numéro et de numéros de pages de la revue, ils ne peuvent donc pas être cités à la façon habituelle. Toutefois ils possèdent un identifiant numérique (Digital Object Identifier, DOI) qui permet à l'article d'être cité et recherché avant qu'il ne soit intégré dans un numéro de la revue. Après la publication imprimée, le DOI reste valide et peut continuer d'être utilisé pour citer et avoir accès à l'article.
Lettres aux éditeurs
Les Lettres aux éditeurs peuvent commenter des articles déjà publiés dans le International Journal of Psychoanalysis ou porter sur des aspects actuels de la psychanalyse. Les lettres ne peuvent pas excéder 1000 mots, avec un maximum de 3 références. Des commentaires de l'auteur peuvent être sollicités, si la lettre se réfère à un article particulier du Journal. Toutes les Lettres aux éditeurs font l'objet d'un travail éditorial et sont susceptibles d'être raccourcies.
Eingereicht werden können Originalbeiträge (d.h. Beiträge, die zuvor weder in gedruckter noch in elektronischer Form veröffentlicht wurden) zu allen psychoanalytischen Themen. Informationen zu Beiträgen, die bereits in einer anderen als der englischen Sprache publiziert wurden, entnehmen Sie bitte dem fünften Absatz.
Sämtliche Beiträge müssen über eine Zusammenfassung in englischer Sprache verfügen. Es ist erforderlich, dass die Autoren der Zusammenfassung besondere Aufmerksamkeit widmen; sie soll die zentrale These und die Art ihrer Begründung vorstellen und wird für den Evaluationsprozess herangezogen. Deshalb muss die Zusammenfassung dem Beitrag gerecht werden. Ihre Übersetzung sollte am dem höchstmöglichen Niveau erfolgen und, falls erforderlich, durch einen professionellen Übersetzer vorgenommen werden. Die Zusammenfassung sollte zwischen 150 und 200 Wörtern umfassen; sie ist dem Artikel auf einer separaten Seite voranzustellen. Werden Beiträge zur Publikation empfohlen, die nicht in englischer Sprache verfasst wurden, übernimmt das IJP die Übersetzungskosten.
Alle Beiträge sind mit einem separaten Deckblatt zu versehen, das folgende Angaben enthält: (a) den Titel, (b) Name(n) des Autors/der Autoren sowie den Ort, wo die Arbeit fertig gestellt wurde, (c) einen abgekürzten Kolumnentitel, der incl. Leerzeichen nicht mehr als 35 Anschläge umfasst, (d) den Namen, die vollständige Postanschrift, Emailadresse, Telefon- und Faxnummer des Autors, an den die Korrespondenz gerichtet und die Korrekturfahnen nach einer Annahme zur Publikation geschickt werden sollen, (e) Schlüsselwörter.
Sämtliche Beiträge werden zur anonymen Beurteilung an Kollegen übergeben. Wenn irgend möglich, erhalten die Autoren ungeachtet der letztlich getroffenen Entscheidung eine ausführliche Rückmeldung. Es ist durchaus üblich, dass um die die Überarbeitung eines Beitrags gebeten wird, der zur Publikation angenommen wurde.
Beiträge, die zuvor in einem Bulletin, einer Fachzeitschrift oder einem anderen Publikationsmedium veröffentlicht wurden, das von einer psychoanalytischen Gesellschaft, Föderation, Vereinigung oder ähnlichen Organisation produziert und vorwiegend unter den jeweiligen Mitgliedern verteilt wird, gelten nicht als bereits veröffentlicht. Sofern der Verfasser das Copyright besitzt (oder es von dem anderen Publikationsmedium erhält), können solche Beiträge beim IJP eingereicht werden.
Beiträge, die zuvor in einer anderen Sprache als dem Englischen publiziert wurden, werden berücksichtigt, sofern sie in einer publikationsfähigen englischen Übersetzung eingereicht werden.
Autoren, die einen Beitrag einreichen, müssen bestätigen:
i. dass die Arbeit oder deren zentrale These und wesentlicher Inhalt zuvor weder vollständig noch teilweise an anderer Stelle veröffentlicht wurden und weder die ganze Arbeit noch Auszüge daraus andernorts für eine Publikation geprüft werden;
ii. dass die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten zum Schutz der Privatsphäre des Patienten berücksichtigt wurden und die gewählte Methode erläutert wird;
iii. dass die Arbeit keine potentiellen Verleumdungen enthält;
iv. dass der Artikel keinen Verstoß gegen das Copyright enthält und
v. dass der Autor/die Autorin bereit ist, ein 'Copyright Assignment Form' zu unterzeichnen, fass die Arbeit angenommen wird.
Der Autor sollte nach Möglichkeit angeben, in welchen Teilen des IJP sein Beitrag am besten platziert wäre: psychoanalytische Theorie und Technik; Geschichte der Psychoanalyse; klinische Mitteilungen; Forschung; Ausbildungs- und Berufsfragen; psychoanalytische Psychotherapie; interdisziplinäre Studien. Artikel für die Rubriken‚ The analyst at work' und ‚Psychoanalytic controversies' werden normalerweise angefordert, aber auch vorschläge sind willkommen. Bitte nehmen Sie Kontakt zu den Herausgebern auf, bevor Sie mit der Arbeit an solchen Beiträgen beginnen.
Englischsprachige Manuskripte sollten die Obergrenze von 10.000 Wörtern nicht übersteigen. Bei Artikeln in anderen Sprachen sind 1500 Wörter zusätzlich erlaubt. Zusammenfassung und Bibliographie sind in diesen Angaben nicht enthalten. Abbildungen oder Tabellen zählen jeweils als 250 Wörter, wenn sie eine halbe Seite beanspruchen, bzw. als 500 Wörter, wenn sie eine ganze Seite beanspruchen. Bitte geben Sie die Anzahl der Wörter an, wenn Sie Ihr Manuskript einreichen.
Die Zusammenfassungen aller Beiträge werden in französischer, deutscher, spanischer und italienischer Sprache abgedruckt. Mehrsprachige Kollegen werden gebeten, Zusammenfassungen in allen ihnen geläufigen Sprachen einzureichen.
Autoren von Beiträgen, die Fallgeschichten enthalten, werden gebeten, in ihrem Begleitschreiben darzulegen, welche Methode sie gewählt haben, um die Anonymität des Peer-Gutachterverfahrens ist nur dann zu gewährleisten, wenn der Beitrag die Identität des Autors nicht zu erkennen gibt. Beachten Sie bitte, dass bei Online-Übermittlung die Angaben zum Autor sowie die Zusammenfassung getrennt vom Beitrag in einer separaten Datei abgespeichert werden. Die Datei mit dem Beitrag darf keinerlei Hinweise auf den Autor/die Autoren enthalten.
Die Autoren sind dafür verantwortlich, das Recht zum Wiederabdruck von Material (einschließlich Zitate, Lyrik, Liedtexte und Bilder), das sie in ihrem Manuskript zitieren wollen und das zuvor bereits veröffentlicht wurde, bei den Copyright-Inhabern einzuholen. Die Abdruckgenehmigung ist der endgültig akzeptierten Fassung des Artikels beizufügen. Autoren, die ihr Manuskript, das publiziertes Material enthält, online einreichen, werden auf der Webseite aufgefordert, durch Anklicken eines Kästchens zu bestätigen, dass sie sämtliche Abdruckgenehmigungen in schriftlicher Form von den Inhabern der Rechte eingeholt haben. Wenn das Manuskript angenommen wird, sind diese Genehmigungen vor der Publikation vorzulegen.
Vorbereitung des Manuskripts
Zulässig ist sowohl amerikanisches als auch britisches Englisch, vorausgesetzt, dass Orthographie und Interpunktion einheitlich gehandhabt werden und den englischsprachigen Standardwörterbüchern, beispielsweise dem Oxford oder Webster, folgen.
Bei elektronischer Übermittlung des Beitrags darf die erste Seite des Manuskripts lediglich den Namen und die Adresse des Verfassers sowie den Titel der Arbeit enthalten. Der Name des Autors darf auf keiner der folgenden Seiten angegeben sein. Die Anonymität des Peer-Gutachterverfahrens ist nur dann zu gewährleisten, wenn der Beitrag die Identität des Autors nicht verrät. Die Handhabung liegt allerdings im Ermessen des Autors selbst. Beachten Sie bitte, dass bei elektronischer Übermittlung die Angaben zum Autor sowie die Zusammenfassung nicht zusammen mit dem Beitrag, sondern in einer separaten Datei abgespeichert sind. Die Datei mit dem Beitrag darf keinerlei Hinweise auf den Autor/die Autoren enthalten.
Der gesamte Beitrag einschließlich Zitaten, Fußnoten und Literaturangaben ist mit doppeltem Abstand zu schreiben. Für sämtliche Seitenränder gilt ein Mindestmaß von 25mm. Seitenzahlen sind rechts unten auf die Seite zu setzen.
Fußnoten sind auf das absolut notwendige Minimum zu beschränken. Sie sollten nicht für bibliographische Angaben benutzt werden. Die Fußnoten sind mit fortlaufender Nummerierung zu versehen. Falls ausführliche Hintergrundinformationen erforderlich sind, können diese in einem Anhang hinzugefügt werden, auf den im Text an der entsprechenden Stelle verwiesen wird.
Tabellen, Abbildungen, Fotografien und Diagramme sind ebenfalls auf ein Minimum zu beschränken und sollten nur verwendet werden, wenn die Argumentation des Beitrags es zwingend erfordert.
Zitate sind sorgfältig auf ihre Genauigkeit zu prüfen und mit Seitenangaben zu versehen. Sämtliche Einfügungen in den Originaltext sind in eckige Klammern zu setzen, zum Beispiel: „He [Freud] regards…"
Auf Kursivdruck im Originaltext ist hinzuweisen. Jede weitere Hervorhebung in Zitaten ist durch den in runde Klammern gesetzten Zusatz „(my italics)" nach dem Zitat zu kennzeichnen. Bei Freud-Zitaten ist grundsätzlich die Standard Edition zu benutzen. Hierbei wird die Angabe des Bandes und der Seitenzahl dem Zitat in runden Klammern nachgestellt. Auslassungen im zitierten Text sind durch drei Punkte zu kennzeichnen, zum Beispiel: „This is … always the case." Werden andere Ausgaben als die Standard Edition benutzt, sollte der Autor begründen, weshalb er diese Alternative gewählt hat.
Literaturhinweise sind nur zu Arbeiten zu geben, die absolut relevant und notwendig sind. Auf Versuche, eine ausführliche „Bibliographie" zusammenzustellen, ist zu verzichten.
Literaturangaben im Text enthalten den Namen des Autors und das in runde Klammern gesetzte Erscheinungsjahr, zum Beispiel Freud (1918) oder (Freud, 1918). Werden zwei Ko-Autoren zitiert, sind beide Namen zu nennen, zum Beispiel Marty and de M'Uzan (1963) oder (Marty and de M'Uzan, 1963). Werden mehr als zwei Ko-Autoren zitiert, sollte der Quellenhinweis im Text dem Muster Smith et al. (1972) oder (Smith et al., 1972) folgen. Vermeiden Sie es nach Möglichkeit, weitere Teile der bibliographischen Angaben wie den Titel des zitierten Beitrags, der Zeitschrift oder des Buches im Beitragstext zu nennen. Diese Angaben gehören lediglich ins Literaturverzeichnis.
Das Literaturverzeichnis enthält die vollständigen Angaben zu sämtlichen im Text zitierten Werken. Die im Literaturverzeichnis genannten Titel müssen exakt mit den im Text angeführten Werken übereinstimmen. Es sind keine zusätzlichen Titel aufzunehmen. Autoren werden im Literaturverzeichnis in alphabetischer Reihenfolge genannt, ihre einzelnen Arbeiten in chronologischer Reihenfolge ihrer Veröffentlichung. (Für Freuds Werke sind die relevanten Daten in runden Klammern in der Standard Edition angegeben.)
Werden von einem Autor mehrere Titel mit demselben Erscheinungsjahr genannt, so ist die Jahresangabe durch a, b, c usw. zu erweitern. Wird ein Autor sowohl als Alleinverfasser wie auch als (erster) Ko-Autor zitiert, so werden zuerst die Titel angegeben, die er allein publiziert hat. Autorennamen werden wiederholt, wo es notwendig ist.
Titel und Untertitel von Büchern sind zu kursivieren. Groß geschrieben werden nur das erste Wort sowie alle Namen. Die Literaturangabe muss den Ort der Veröffentlichung und den Namen des Verlags enthalten. Bezieht sich die Angabe nicht auf die Erstausgabe, ist das Erscheinungsjahr der zitierten Ausgabe am Ende der Angabe zu nennen.
Bei Aufsatztiteln wird ebenfalls nur das erste Wort groß geschrieben. Auf den Titel folgt der abgekürzte Name der Zeitschrift (kursiv gesetzt) mit der Heftnummer sowie der Angabe der ersten und letzten Seite des Artikels. Benutzen Sie nach Möglichkeit die Abkürzungen des Index Medicus, die Sie im Internet unter www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi finden. Im Zweifelsfall können Sie den vollständigen Titel der Zeitschrift nennen.
Fremdsprachige Autoren werden gebeten, Zitate in englischer Sprache zu bringen und bei Freud-Zitaten nach Möglichkeit die Standard Edition zugrunde zu legen; falls dies nicht möglich ist, sind die Zitate mit exakten Seitenangaben der fremdsprachigen Ausgabe nachzuweisen.
Beachten Sie bitte bei den folgenden Beispielen die Art und Weise, wie Großbuchstaben, Interpunktion, die notwendigen Informationen und ihre Reihenfolge gehandhabt werden:

Korrekturfahnen und Änderungen
Sie erhalten die Korrekturfahnen sehr rasch nach Abgabe der endgültigen Fassung und sollten sie dann schnellstmöglich wieder zurückschicken. Für den Inhalt des Beitrags ist der Autor verantwortlich. Beiträge werden erst dann veröffentlicht, wenn die Redaktion vom Autor eine ausdrückliche Genehmigung der Korrekturfahnen erhalten hat. Aus diesem Grund sollten Autoren mit dem Redakteur, der die Produktion koordiniert, in Kontakt bleiben und ihn über geplante Abwesenheitstermine unterrichten. Normalerweise werden die Beiträge unmittelbar nach Rückgabe der Korrekturfahnen online erscheinen oder in das nächste Heft aufgenommen. Die Herausgeber können nicht garantieren, dass Veränderungen, die ein Autor im Text eines akzeptierten Manuskripts vorzunehmen wünscht, tatsächlich ausgeführt werden, nachdem der Beitrag zur Veröffentlichung angenommen wurde. Im Stadium der Korrektur werden Änderungen nicht akzeptiert, wenn die Herausgeber und ihre Mitarbeiter der Ansicht sind, dass der dafür erforderliche Zeit- oder Kostenaufwand nicht gerechtfertigt ist.
Vorschau
The International Journal of Psychoanalysis wurde in den Wiley-Blackwell's Early View-Service aufgenommen. Vorschau-Artikel sind vollständige Beiträge, die vor der Druckveröffentlichung im Heft online publiziert werden. Bei Vorschau-Artikeln handelt es sich um die vollständige und endgültige Fassung. Sie wurden für die Publikation komplett begutachtet, überarbeitet und redigiert und enthalten auch die letzten Korrekturen des Autors. An dieser endgültigen Version können nach der Online-Publikation keine Änderungen mehr vorgenommen werden. Da es sich um Vorschau-Artikel handelt, enthalten sie noch keine Jahrgangs-, Heft- und Seitenangaben, so dass sie nicht auf herkömmliche Weise zitiert werden können. Stattdessen sind sie mit einem Digital Object Identifier (DOI) versehen, der es ermöglicht, den Artikel auch schon vor der Druckveröffentlichung zu zitieren. Der DOI bleibt auch nach der Druckveröffentlichung gültig und kann weiterhin für Zitatnachweise und für den Zugriff auf den Beitrag benutzt werden.
Briefe an den Herausgeber
Briefe an den Herausgeber können sich auf Artikel beziehen, die in The International Journal of Psychoanalysis veröffentlicht wurden, oder auf aktuelle Themen der Psychoanalyse. Sie sollten einen Umfang von ca. 1000 Wörtern nicht überschreiten und sich auf maximal drei Literaturhinweise beschränken. Zu Briefen, die einen bestimmten, im Journal publizierten Beitrag betreffen, kann der Beitragsverfasser ggf. Stellung nehmen.
Alle Briefe an den Herausgeber werden redaktionell bearbeitet und unter Umständen gekürzt.
Se reciben contribuciones originales (no publicadas con anterioridad, sea en formato impreso o digital) que se refieran a cualquier tema psicoanalítico. Respecto a los artículos anteriormente publicados en un idioma distinto del inglés, remítase al quinto párrafo de esta sección.
Todos los artículos deben llevar un resumen en inglés. Se solicita a los(as) autores(as) prestar particular atención al resumen, en cuanto debe presentar el argumento principal, así como su fundamento, y se usará como ayuda en el proceso de evaluación. Por ello es importante que le haga justicia al artículo y que su traducción sea la mejor posible, sirviéndose de un traductor profesional si resulta necesario. El resumen debe contar entre 150 y 200 palabras y debe imprimirse en página aparte al comienzo del artículo. El costo de la traducción de los artículos recomendados para su publicación que no han sido escritos en inglés será asumido por el IJP.
Todas las contribuciones deben ser acompañadas de una página de cubierta en la que se detalle: (a) el título; (b) el(los) nombre(s) del autor(a/es/as) y el(los) lugar(es) en el(los) que se terminó el artículo; (c) un título abreviado para encabezar las páginas del artículo que no exceda de 35 letras y espacios; (d) el nombre, la dirección postal completa, la dirección de correo electrónico, número de teléfono y fax del autor a quien se le dirigirá toda la correspondencia y las pruebas para revisión si la publicación es aceptada; y (e) palabras clave.
Todos los artículos recibidos se enviarán a colegas para su revisión anónima. Los(as) autores(as) recibirán, cuando fuere posible, un comentario detallado, cualquiera que sea la decisión adoptada. Se suele solicitar cierto grado de revisión de artículos cuya publicación resulta finalmente aprobada.
Los artículos aparecidos con anterioridad en un boletín, revista o cualquier otra publicación, editados por una sociedad, federación, asociación o entidad similar que circulen principalmente entre los miembros de la misma entidad, no se considerarán como publicados previamente. Estos artículos son aptos para ser presentados al IJP a condición de que los derechos de autor le pertenezcan al autor(a) (o que el(ella) mismo(a) obtenga el permiso de reproducción de la publicación pertinente).
Se tomará en cuenta cualquier artículo que haya sido anteriormente publicado en un idioma distinto del inglés si es presentado en una traducción al inglés apropiada para su publicación.
Al enviar un artículo, el(la) autor(a) deberá confirmar:
i. que el artículo, o su argumento principal y contenido, no ha sido publicado en ninguna otra parte, ni se está considerando su publicación total o parcial en otra parte;
ii. que se ha tenido en cuenta las diversas maneras disponibles de proteger la privacidad del paciente y que se ha especificado la manera elegida;
iii. que el artículo no contiene nada potencialmente difamatorio;
iv. que el artículo no implica infracción alguna de los derechos de autor; y
v. que está dispuesto(a) a firmar un 'Copyright Assignment Form', en caso de que el artículo sea aceptado.
El(La) autor(a) debe indicar las secciones del IJP apropiada para el artículo: teoría y técnica psicoanalíticas; historia del psicoanálisis; comunicaciones clínicas; investigación; temas docentes y profesionales; psicoterapia psicoanalítica, estudios interdisciplinarios. Los artículos para las secciones 'analistas en el trabajo' y 'controversias psicoanalíticas' se escriben normalmente por invitación. Sin embargo, son bienvenidas las propuestas. Sírvase contactar a los editores antes de empezar a trabajar en estos artículos.
Los manuscritos en inglés tendrán como máximo 10,000 palabras. Se permite añadir 1,500 palabras en los artículos que no están escritos en inglés. Estos máximos no incluyen los resúmenes ni las referencias, figuras o cuadros, que serán contados como 250 palabras para cada ítem que ocupe una media página o como 500 palabras si ocupa una página completa. Se le ruega incluir un conteo en el manuscrito que presente.
Los resúmenes de todos los artículos serán publicados en francés, alemán, español e italiano. Los colegas versados en más de un idioma deben presentar resúmenes en todos los idiomas que puedan.
En todas las presentaciones que incluyan informes de casos los autores deben declarar en su carta de remisión cuál método han elegido para proteger la privacidad del paciente (Gabbard, 2000, Int J Psychoanal, 81:1071-1086). Tal información debe ser mantenida fuera del trabajo publicado mismo para no minar la reserva. Cuando se obtiene el consentimiento de uno o varios pacientes, los autores deben indicar en la carta de remisión si el consentimiento por escrito se ha conservado y si está disponible en caso de necesidad.
Los(as) autores(as) son responsables de la obtención del permiso del titular de los derechos de autor para reproducir cualquier material previamente publicado en su manuscrito (como citas, poemas, letras de canciones e imágenes), y estos permisos deben ser entregados junto con la versión final aceptada de su artículo. Si el manuscrito contuviera algún material reproducido, se le pedirá al autor(a), al momento de presentar el manuscrito en línea, que marque una casilla para confirmar que ya ha solicitado todos los permisos por escrito a los titulares de los derechos de autor. De ser aceptado el manuscrito, se le pedirá que proporcione estos permisos por escrito antes de su publicación.
Elaboración del manuscrito
Se puede utilizar el inglés americano o el británico, siempre que los estilos de ortografía y puntuación guarden consistencia interna y estén de acuerdo con cualquier diccionario inglés estándar, como el Oxford o las versiones ampliamente aceptadas del Webster.
El anonimato del proceso de evaluación por parte de colegas sólo podrá preservarse si el artículo se redacta en una forma que no revele la identidad del autor. Adviértase que cuando se haga el envío por vía electrónica, los datos del autor y el resumen se encuentren cargados de manera separada del artículo mismo, el cual no debe incluir ninguna referencia al autor(a) o autores(as).
Use doble espacio para la totalidad del artículo, incluidas citas, notas a pie de página y referencias, con márgenes de por lo menos 25 mm por los cuatro lados. El número de página debe incluirse en la esquina inferior derecha de cada página.
Las notas deben limitarse estrictamente a las imprescindibles, y no se las debe utilizar para hacer referencias bibliográficas. Cuando resulte necesario proporcionar antecedentes extensos, la información puede incluirse como apéndice, ubicando de manera apropiada en el texto una referencia al apéndice.
Los cuadros, figuras, fotografías y diagramas deben limitarse al mínimo necesario para la argumentación del artículo.
Se debe revisar cuidadosamente que cada cita sea correcta, e indicar los números de página. Toda inserción en un texto citado original debe presentarse entre corchetes, como por ejemplo: 'él [Freud] considera…'. Las cursivas del original deben respetarse. Cualquier énfasis adicional en un material citado debe señalarse en el manuscrito, añadiendo entre paréntesis la frase '(mi cursiva)' después de la cita. Al citar a Freud, en general debe usarse la versión de la Standard Edition, colocando el número de página apropiado del volumen entre paréntesis en el texto. Los puntos suspensivos deben usarse para indicar una omisión en el texto citado; por ejemplo: 'Éste es … siempre el caso'. Si se usan ediciones diferentes a la Standard Edition, los autores deben indicar por qué se eligió la alternativa.
Las referencias en el texto se indican citando el nombre del autor, seguido del año de publicación entre paréntesis. Por ejemplo: 'Freud (1918)' o '(Freud, 1918)'. Si se citan dos coautores, se debe mencionar los nombres de ambos; por ejemplo: 'Marty y de M'Uzan (1963)' o '(Marty y de M'Uzan, 1963)'. Si se citan más de dos coautores, la referencia en el texto deberá figurar en la siguiente forma: Smith et al. (1972) o (Smith et al., 1972). Evite repetir, en la medida de lo posible, otros elementos de la referencia, tales como el título del artículo, de la revista o del libro, dentro del texto principal. Estos detalles deben confinarse a la lista de referencias.
La referencia completa a todas las obras citadas en el texto debe figurar en la lista de referencias al final del artículo. Las referencias de dicha lista deben corresponder exactamente a los trabajos citados en el texto, sin añadir obras adicionales. La lista de autores debe aparecer por orden alfabético, y sus obras por el orden cronológico de la fecha de publicación. (Para las obras de Freud, las fechas relevantes figuran entre paréntesis en la Standard Edition).
Si en la lista aparecen varias obras de un autor de un mismo año, estas deben ir seguidas de a, b, c, etc. Cuando un autor aparece como autor único y también (primer) coautor, las referencias a las obras individuales deben anteceder las referencias a las obras conjuntas. Los nombres de los autores se deben repetir cuando resulte necesario.
Los títulos de los libros deben ir en cursiva, con mayúsculas iniciales, salvo los nombres propios, y debe darse el lugar de publicación y el nombre de la editorial. Si se hace referencia a una edición que no sea la original, la fecha de la edición citada se indica también al final de la referencia.
En los títulos de artículos, sólo la primera palabra debe ir en mayúscula. Después del título del artículo, se coloca el nombre abreviado de la revista (en cursivas), el número de volumen, y los números de la primera y última página del artículo. De preferencia, use las abreviaciones de nombres de revistas del Index Medicus, véase www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fgci. Si tiene una duda, dé el nombre completo de la revista.
Se pide a los(as) autores(as) que escriben en un idioma distinto al inglés, que al citar a Freud proporcionen, cuando sea posible, las citas en inglés y se remitan a la versión de la Standard Edition; si no pudieran hacerlo, deben indicar los números de página exactos en los que se encuentran las citas en las versiones en idioma distinto al inglés.

Presentación y aceptación de manuscritos

Para empezar

8. En cada pantalla haga clic en "Siguiente" ["Next"] para guardar su trabajo y avanzar a la siguiente pantalla.
9. Es necesario que suba sus archivos.
• Haga clic en el botón "Navegar" ["Browse"] y ubique el archivo en su computadora u ordenador.

Pruebas y cambios
Una vez recibida la versión final del artículo se remitirán muy pronto las pruebas de corrección, las que deberán ser devueltas a la mayor brevedad. Los autores son responsables del contenido de sus trabajos. Los trabajos serán publicados solo luego de haber recibido la aprobación explícita de la prueba corregida. Por esta razón los autores deben mantenerse en contacto con el editor de producción si tienen planeado ausentarse. Normalmente un artículo aparecerá en el número siguiente o subsiguiente, después de la devolución de las pruebas. Una vez aceptado el artículo para su publicación, los editores no pueden garantizar que los cambios que un(a) autor(a) quiera introducir al texto de un manuscrito aceptado sean incluidos. Los cambios en la fase de la corrección de pruebas pueden no ser aceptados cuando hacerlos implique, en opinión del personal de la redacción editorial, un gasto innecesario de tiempo o dinero.
Early View
La revista International Journal of Psychoanalysis está incluida en el servicio Early View de Wiley-Blackwell. Los artículos en Early View son artículos completos publicados en línea con antelación a la publicación en formato impreso. Los artículos en Early View son completos y finales. Han sido totalmente evaluados, revisados y corregidos para su publicación, y se les ha incorporado las correcciones finales de los(as) autores(as). Al estar en su forma final, no es posible realizar ningún cambio luego de su publicación en línea. El carácter de artículo en Early View significa que aún no tiene número de volumen, número de ejemplar ni número de página, de manera que no puede ser citado de la manera tradicional. Por ello se le da un Identificador de Objeto Digital (DOI, por su sigla en inglés), lo cual permite citar al artículo y localizarlo antes de ser asignado a un ejemplar de la revista. Luego de la publicación en formato impreso, el DOI sigue teniendo validez y puede continuar usándose para citar y acceder al artículo.
Las cartas al director
Las cartas al director pueden comentar artículos aparecidos en The International Journal of Psychoanalysis o temas de actualidad en el psicoanálisis. Las cartas no deben tener más de 1000 palabras, y no más de tres referencias. Si la carta alude a un artículo específico del Journal, es posible solicitar comentarios de su autor.

Si accettano contributi originali (mai pubblicati in precedenza, su copia a stampa o elettronica) che trattino temi psicoanalitici di qualsiasi tipo. Riportarsi al quinto paragrafo di questo documento per articoli precedentemente pubblicati in lingua straniera (non in inglese).
Tutti gli articoli devono essere correlati da un sommario (abstract) in inglese. Gli autori sono pregati di prestare particolare attenzione al sommario, che dovrà presentare la tesi centrale dell'articolo e i principali argomenti che la sostengono. Il sommario sara' usato nel processo di valutazione del lavoro. È quindi di primaria importanza che sia fedele all'articolo e che la sua traduzione sia ad alto livello , ricorrendo, se necessario, ad un traduttore professionista. Il sommario non deve superare le 150-200 parole e va stampato su pagina separata all'inizio dell'articolo. Gli articoli approvati per la pubblicazione e non scritti in inglese, saranno tradotti a spese dell'IJP.
Ogni lavoro deve presentare una pagina d'accompagnamento a sé stante che precisi: (a) il titolo; (b) nome dell'autore (o autori) e luogo (luoghi) in cui il lavoro sia stato realizzato; (c) titolo abbreviato che non superi i 35 caratteri e spazi; (d) il nome, indirizzo postale, indirizzo elettronico, numero di telefono e di fax dell'autore a cui ogni vada inviata ogni corrispondenza, compresa la correzione delle bozze, nel caso l'articolo sia accettato per pubblicazione; e (e) le parole chiave dell'articolo.
Tutti gli articoli saranno sottoposti anonimamente al processo di 'peer review'. Ove possibile, gli autori riceveranno un feedback dettagliato, a prescindere dalla decisione raggiunta. All'autore é spesso richiesto di apportare alcune modifiche al lavoro accettato per la pubblicazione.
Gli articoli precedentemente apparsi in bollettini, rassegne o altre pubblicazioni a cura di società, federazioni, associazioni o enti simili, destinati prevalentemente ai soci non verranno considerati come già precedentemente pubblicati. Premesso che il copyright appartenga all'autore (o che l'autore ottenga il permesso dalla pubblicazione precedente), questi articoli possono essere sottomessi all'IJP.
Ogni articolo che sia stato in precedenza pubblicato in un'altra lingua verra' preso in considerazione se presentato con una traduzione inglese adeguata alla pubblicazione.
Al momento della presentazione del lavoro l'autore dovrà dichiarare:
i. che nessuna parte dell'articolo, né il suo tema principale siano stati precedentemente pubblicati o proposti come pubblicazione altrove;
ii. che siano state rispettate le misure necessarie a proteggere la riservatezza dei pazienti, specificando quelle adottate;
iii. che l'articolo non includa alcun contenuto che possa essere considerato diffamatorio;
iv. che l'articolo non violi alcun aspetto di copyright; e,
v. che l'autore/autrice si impegni a firmare un modulo di trasferimento di copyright nel caso che l'articolo venga accettato.
L'autore deve indicare in quali delle seguenti sezioni dell'IJP l'articolo debba essere classificato: Teoria e tecnica psicoanalitica; Storia della psicoanalisi; Comunicazioni cliniche; Psicoanalisi dell'infanzia e dell'adolescenza; Ricerca; Questioni didattiche e professionali; Psicoterapia psicoanalitica; Studi interdisciplinari. Articoli destinati alle sezioni 'L'Analista al Lavoro' e 'Controversie psicoanalitiche' dovrebbero essere presentati solo su invito . Tuttavia siamo lieti di ricevere proposte di articoli che trattino di tali argomenti - si prega pero' di contattare la redazione prima di cominciare a lavorare su questi articoli.
Il numero massimo di parole per i manoscritti in inglese è di 10.000 parole. Un aggiunta nominale di 1500 parole è consentita per gli articoli scritti in altre lingue. Nel limite massimo indicato non sono compresi il sommario e la bibliografia; immagini e tabelle vanno considerate come 250 parole se occupano mezza pagina o 500 se occupano l'intera pagina. Si prega di fornire il conteggio delle parole con il manoscritto.
Il sommario di ogni articolo verrà pubblicato in francese, tedesco, spagnolo e italiano. Gli autori sono pregati di fornire il sommario in ognuna di queste lingue se da loro conosciute.
In tutti gli articoli proposti che comprendono casi clinici gli autori devono specificare nella lettera di accompagnamento il metodo scelto per proteggere la riservatezza del paziente (Gabbard, 2000, Int J Psychoanal, 81:1071-1086). Tale informazione non deve essere inclusa nel lavoro da pubblicare per non compromettere l'efficacia del metodo adottato. Nel caso sia stato ottenuto il consenso del paziente o dei pazienti, gli autori devono specificare nella lettera di accompagnamento se sono in possesso del consenso scritto e se questo verrà messo a disposizione qualora fosse necessario.
Per la riproduzione di qualsiasi materiale precedentemente pubblicato (citazioni, poesie, parole di canzoni, fotografie ecc.), gli autori sono tenuti ad ottenere l'autorizzazione da parte di chi possegga i diritti d'autore. Tale autorizzazione dovrà essere fornita al momento della consegna definitiva dell'articolo. Per proposte online di articoli che contengano riproduzioni di materiale precedentemente pubblicato, gli autori sono tenuti a confermare, barrando l'apposita casella, di essersi procurati l'autorizzazione scritta relativa ai diritti di autore. Tale autorizzazione dovrà poi essere fatta pervenire all'editore nel caso l'articolo sia accettato per pubblicazione.
Preparazione del manoscritto
È possibile usare sia l'inglese britannico che americano, a condizione che l'ortografia e la punteggiatura siano coerenti all'interno dell'articolo e in linea con i dizionari inglesi standard, come l'Oxford o le più diffuse edizioni del Webster.
Notare che nelle proposte online, i dati dell'autore e l'abstract sono archiviati separatamente dall'articolo, il quale articolo non
dovrà includere alcun riferimento all'autore o autori.
Si prega di usare doppia interlinea in tutto il testo, compreso per le citazioni, le note a pié di pagina e la bibliografia, con un margine di almeno 25 mm. La numerazione delle pagine deve apparire sulla destra del margine inferiore.
Le note a pié di pagina, da numerare in modo consecutivo, devono essere mantentenute al minimo strettamente necessario e non vanno usate per riferimenti bibliografici. Ovunque siano necessarie ulteriori informazioni, queste potranno essere incluse come appendice, con rinvio all'appendice posto nel punto adeguato del testo.
Tabelle, schemi immagini, fotografie e diagrammi devono essere mantenuti al minimo necessario richiesto dall'argomento dell'articolo.
Le citazioni devono essere attentamente controllate in modo che siano precise; va inoltre segnalato il numero della pagina in cui si trovano. Ogni eventuale aggiunta alla citazione originale deve essere inserita in parentesi quadra, per esempio, 'egli [Freud] considera...'.
I corsivi presenti nell'originale devono essere mantenuti. Ogni corsivo che indichi un'enfasi aggiunta dall'autore dell'articolo deve essere segnalata con la frase (corsivo mio), in parentesi tonda, da inserire alla fine della citazione. Per le citazioni di Freud deve essere usata la Standard Edition, con il riferimento del volume e della pagina in questione indicate all'interno del testo fra parentesi tonda. Per indicare omissioni di testo si useranno tre punti di sospensione, per esempio, 'Questo è ... spesso il caso'. Nel caso vengano usate altre edizioni in luogo della Standard Edition, gli autori sono tenuti a indicare il motivo di tale scelta.
I riferimenti bibliografici devono concernere solo lavori strettamente rilevanti, mentre vanno evitate compilazioni di bibliografie 'esaustive'.
I riferimenti all'interno del testo devono comprendere il nome dell'autore seguito dall'anno di pubblicazione fra parentesi tonda, per esempio Freud (1918) oppure (Freud, 1918). Nel caso di due co-autori, entrambi i nomi devono apparire, per esempio, Marty e de M'Uzan (1963) or (Marty e de M'Uzan, 1963). Se si tratta di più co-autori, il riferimento nel testo sarà come segue: Smith et al. (1972) oppure (Smith et al., 1972). Ovunque sia possibile, evitare di ripetere nel riferimento all'interno del testo altri dati, quali il titolo dell'articolo, della rivista o del libro, che compariranno nella bibliografia.
La bibliografia, alla fine dell'articolo, deve comprendere i riferimenti completi di tutte le opere citate nel testo; non possono essere inclusi riferimenti a opere non citate nell'articolo. Gli autori vanno elencati in ordine alfabetico, e le rispettive opere in ordine cronologico di pubblicazione. (Per le opere di Freud le date della pubblicazione originale si trovano fra parentesi tonda nella Standard Edition.)
Nel caso vengano citate più opere di un autore dello stesso anno, queste verranno indicate con a, b, c, ecc. Qualora un autore venga elencato sia come singolo sia come (primo) co-autore, il riferimento all'opera singola deve precedere quello all'opera co-scritta. Il nome degli autori va ripetuto ovunque si renda necessario.
I titoli e i sottotitoli dei libri vanno in corsivo, con l'iniziale maiuscola solo per la prima parola e per i nomi. Seguiranno il luogo di pubblicazione e il nome della casa editrice. Se il riferimento riguarda un'edizione che non sia l'originale, deve essere indicata anche la data dell'edizione citata. Nei titoli di articoli si indicherà con la maiuscola solo la prima parola. Il titolo dell`articolo sarà seguito dal nome abbreviato della rivista (in corsivo), il numero di volume e il numero della prima e ultima pagina dell'articolo. Usare di preferenza il sistema Index Medicus per l'abbreviazione dei nomi delle riviste, vedi www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi. Se in dubbio, indicare il nome della rivista per esteso.
Per gli articoli in lingua straniera, gli autori sono pregati di fornire, nella misura del possibile, le citazioni in inglese. Per citare Freud, fare riferimento alla Standard Edition. Nel caso ciò non sia possibile, indicare precisamente le pagine in cui si trovano le citazioni nell'edizione straniera in questione.
Notare, negli esempi che seguono, l'uso delle maiuscole, la punteggiatura, i dati richiesti e il loro ordine.

Correzione di bozze e modifiche
Le bozze verranno inviate per correzione poco dopo la ricezione del manoscritto finale e devono essere rinviate entro breve tempo. Gli Autori sono responsabili del contenuto del loro lavoro. Gli articoli verranno pubblicati solo dopo ricezione dell'approvazione delle bozze. Per tale motivo, gli autori devono essere contattabili ad ogni stadio della produzione. I lavori vengono di solito pubblicati nel numero che segue la ricezione delle bozze corrette, o in quello successivo. I redattori non possono garantire l'inserimento di eventuali modifiche apportate da un autore dopo che il manoscritto è stato accettato per pubblicazione. Le eventuali modifiche allo stadio della correzione delle bozze possono non essere accettate se, a parere della redazione,
comportano una spesa inutile di tempo o denaro.
Consultazione preliminare
L'International Journal of Psychoanalysis fa parte del servizio online di consultazione preliminare (Early View) offerto da Wiley-Blackwell. Questo servizio offre articoli in versione completa e definitiva. Nessuna modifica può essere apportata a questo stadio, essendo gli articoli online già stati rivisti, approvati e completi di correzioni finali da parte dell'autore. Poiché gli articoli online non presentano numero di volume, di fascicolo e di pagina, non possono essere citati nel modo consueto. Comportano invece un codice digitale DOI (Digital Object Identifier), che consente la citazione e la ricerca dell'articolo prima della sua pubblicazione. A publicazione avvenuta, il DOI rimane valido per l'accesso e il riferimento degli articoli.
Le lettere al redattore
Le lettere al redattore possono essere commenti ad articoli precedentemente pubblicati sull'International Journal of Psychoanalysis o trattare di questioni attuali in psicoanalisi. Le lettere non devono eccedere le mille parole circa. È consentito un massimo di tre riferimenti. Se la lettera si riferisce a uno specifico articolo dell' International Journal, è possono essere richiesti commenti all'autore in questione. Tutte le lettere sono soggette a revisione e a un'eventuale abbreviazione da parte della redazione.
