Instructions to Authors
Original manuscripts that would be of interest to the broad readership of the International Studies Association may be submitted electronically through our Web site at www.indiana.edu/~iuisq/. In the event of unforeseen problems, either on your end or ours, we will accept your manuscript via email at Intstudq@indiana.edu. In any case, submissions will be acknowledged with a short email. If you do not receive an email within a few days, please contact us at International Studies Quarterly, William R. Thompson, Managing Editor, Department of Political Science, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana 47405 or wthompso@indiana.edu. Submit two electronic copies by clicking on the "Send Manuscript" option available on the International Studies Quarterly web site. The manuscript must be double-spaced. One should be submitted in PDF format (readable by Adobe Acrobat) and contain the authors' contact information. The second copy should be completely anonymous (please be sure that your name is not included in any headers or file names). Manuscripts should not exceed 12,500 words, including the references and tables, with a 12-point font and reasonable margins (one inch or more) and must include an abstract of approximately 150 words. Manuscripts will be accepted for review on the understanding that the manuscript has not been accepted for publication or review elsewhere. For other information concerning the review process, please consult our web page cited above.
Please note that Word 2007 is not yet compatible with journal production systems. Please use Word's "Save As" option therefore to save your document as an older (.doc) file type.
There are three preferred formats for digital artwork submission: Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), Portable Document Format (PDF), and Tagged Image Format (TIFF). We suggest that line art be saved as EPS files. Alternatively, these may saved as PDF files at 600 dots per inch (dpi) or better at final size. Tone art, or photographic images, should be saved as TIFF files with a resolution of 300 dpi at final size. For combination figures, or artwork that contains both photographs and labeling, we recommend saving figures as EPS files, or as PDF files with a resolution of 600 dpi or better at final size. More detailed information on the submission of electronic artwork can be found at http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/illustration.asp

NEW: Online production tracking is now available for your article through Wiley-Blackwell's Author Services.
Author Services enables authors to track their article - once it has been accepted - through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.
