Incoming Editor
As of March 1, 2009 all manuscript submissions to Family Relations will be sent to the incoming editor Ronald Sabatelli, University of Connecticut.
Family Relations publishes applied articles that are original, innovative and interdisciplinary and that focus on diverse families and family issues. Audiences include educators in academic and community settings, researchers with an applied or evaluation focus, family practitioners, and family policy specialists. Appropriate articles include empirically based applied research, educational philosophies or practices, critical syntheses of relevant substantive areas, program evaluations, curriculum development and assessment, issues in the discipline, professional development, basic research with clearly articulated implications for practice and policy, and educational practice.
GENERAL: Manuscripts must be submitted online. For complete detailed instructions on uploading your manuscript, please visit the Family Relations online submission site (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/fr) and log on. If you need assistance select "get help". Once logged on select author center, and then select "submit a new manuscript." If you do not have a user ID, click the "create an account" icon and follow the online instructions. Any major word processing software may be used, and both DOS-based and Macintosh operating systems are acceptable. Authors with no Internet connection should contact the Editorial Office. The author checklists must be completed during the submission process. Copyright assignment is a condition of publication, and papers will not be passed to the Publisher unless copyright has been assigned. A link to the appropriate copyright form can be found online during the submission process. However, authors should not submit a copyright form until their manuscript has been accepted for publication.
Complete instructions for preparing and submitting manuscripts online are provided at the submission site and at http://www.ncfr.org/journals/family_relations/home.asp. There also is an online tutorial available at Scholar One Online Users Guide. If you need further assistance, please contact the editorial office by phone at 540-231-1646 or via e-mail at frjourn@vt.edu.
Please follow the appropriate APA 5th edition format when submitting manuscripts online. In addition, it is vital that manuscripts submitted online are prepared for blind review. A $25 processing fee also will be collected at the time of submission.
TABLES: Formatting for tables must follow the guidelines listed at http://www.ncfr.com/journals/family_relations/submit/tables.asp
Online production tracking is now available for your article through Author Services.
Author Services enables authors to track their article - once it has been accepted - through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit www.blackwellpublishing.com/bauthor for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.
