TopAuthor Guidelines

RULES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS:

1. Original manuscripts of high quality from all areas of philosophy will be considered. They must not be submitted simultaneously elsewhere.

2. All manuscripts should be typed double-spaced on standard size (8 1/2 x 11) paper, with all notes appearing at the end of the manuscript, not at the bottom of each page.

3. Two clear copies are desired; authors should also retain a copy. In order to facilitate the blind review of submissions, the author's name should not appear on the manuscript itself, but rather on a separate title page or cover letter.

4. Authors who wish their manuscripts returned should enclose adequate postage along with a self-addressed envelope.

5. As a general rule, manuscripts should be limited to thirty (30) pages, including notes.

6. Footnote references should be in accordance with the MLA style sheet:

Name of author; title of book (underlined); page references, followed by a period. Then, in parentheses; City of publication, followed by a colon; name of publisher; date of publication, close-parentheses. Titles of books should be underlined; titles of articles should be in double quotes.

7. Longer quotations should be set in separate paragraphs, so as to be printed in small type. In the manuscript, however, they should still be typed double-spaced, but separated from the remainder of the manuscript by a small space before and after.

8. Quoted sentences should be indicated by double-quotes (). Words or phrases mentioned should be in single-quotes ('). (Example: the word 'square'.)

9. All manuscripts and correspondence regarding them should be sent to:
