Notes for Contributors
The Managing Editor welcomes submissions of articles, policy and legislative developments, case comments, text of key documents and book reviews.
Contributions are welcome from any interested persons including scholars, practitioners and policymakers.
Presentation
Manuscripts of articles, case analyses and book reviews must be submitted in Word format by email to reciel@rogers.com to the attention of the Managing Editor.
References in Articles
There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.
EndNote reference styles can be searched for here:
http://www.endnote.com/support/enstyles.asp
Reference Manager reference styles can be searched for here:

Commissioned and Unsolicited Contributions
Contributions, whether commissioned or unsolicited, are independently refereed. Please submit contributions well in advance of the deadlines and allow 6 weeks for an answer from the Managing Editor as to whether the article has been accepted.
Deadlines
Authors are urged to contact the Managing Editor for deadlines. Articles submitted after the deadline cannot be guaranteed publication.
Length of Contributions
Articles:
5,000 to 8,000 words
Case Notes:
1,500 to 2,500 words
Book Reviews:
500 to 1,500 words
Documents:
Variable, depending on space available.
Copyright
RECIEL cannot consider for publication manuscripts which have already been published, which are being considered by other journals or which contributors are planning to submit to other journals while RECIEL would be considering the same. If an article has been accepted by another journal, authors must advise RECIEL.
Copyright Transfer Agreement
Authors will be required to sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) for all papers accepted for publication. Signature of the CTA is a condition of publication and papers will not be passed to the publisher for production unless a signed form has been received (US Federal Government employees need to complete the Author Warranty sections, although copyright in such cases does not need to be assigned). After submission authors will retain the right to publish their paper in various media/circumstances (please see the form for further details). To assist authors an appropriate form will be supplied by the editorial office. Alternatively, authors may like to download a copy of the form here
Where the author's copyright belongs to the organisation for which he/she works, it will be necessary to sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement with the publishers in order to deal with requests and income from subsidiary rights to publish. In such cases the author should inform the Managing Editor at the time of submission or at the commissioning stage that copyright cannot be transferred.
It is the author's responsibility to obtain permission to use material which is the copyright of another author or publisher.
Language
Contributions must be submitted in the English language. For guidance, see generally the Collins Dictionary or Oxford English Dictionary (as well as the detailed Style Notes for Contributors available from the Managing Editor).
House Rules
Citations must be in footnotes, with some exceptions. Authors are urged to obtain a copy of the detailed Style Notes for Contributors from the Managing Editor (which will be sent to authors whose articles have been commissioned or accepted for publication). Contributors are responsible for accuracy and proper form of citations.
Title, Name of Author and Bibliograhical Details
Each article must have a title at the beginning of the article followed by the author's name. Brief biographical details must appear at the end of all contributions, including the official position, current work and other information about the author.
Proofs
The corresponding author will receive an email alert containing a link to a web site. A working e-mail address must therefore be provided for the corresponding author. The proof can be downloaded as a PDF (portable document format) file from this site. Acrobat Reader will be required in order to read this file. This software can be downloaded (free of charge) from the following web site:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
This will enable the file to be opened, read on screen and printed out in order for any corrections to be added. Further instructions will be sent with the proof. Hard copy proofs will be posted if no e-mail address is available. Excessive changes made by the author in the proofs, excluding typesetting errors, will be charged separately. Whilst new developments may have occurred after the article has been typeset, it is advisable that substantive changes not be undertaken at this stage. Authors must return the corrections to the proofreader within the specified deadline.
Editing Contributions
The Managing Editor reserves the right to alter the text of a contribution in order to make it conform with RECIEL editorial style or to compress it into available number of pages.
Gratis Copies of Contributions
RECIEL is published by Blackwell Publishing, Oxford, UK. Each author will receive 1 free copy of that issue and a PDF offprint of their article by email. Contributors of book reviews will receive a PDF offprint of the review section.
NEW: Online production tracking is now available for your article through Blackwell's Author Services.
Author Services enables authors to track their article - once it has been accepted - through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit www.blackwellpublishing.com/bauthor for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.
